Daily Update

The spring athletic season begins for all sports next Monday.  Please be sure to register online and check on whether or not you have a current physical exam on file with the school nurse.  No exceptions will be made.  You must be registered and medically clear to attend a tryout session.  Please check the athletic website www.sabisathletics.net for details concerning next week’s tryout sessions for all sports.

As long as the weather cooperates the following schedule will be utilized on Monday:

Boys and girls tennis will be held at Forest Park beginning right after school.  We will provide a bus (if you need one) to get there on Monday only.  Students will need to get their own transportation for Tuesday.  Baseball and softball tryouts will be held on their respective fields from 3 – 5:30 PM.  Boys volleyball will be held in the main gym also right after school.  Track and field will be held outside on the varsity soccer field area beginning from 3 – 5 pm.  Schedules for the rest of the tryout sessions will be provided by the coaches on Monday.  If the weather forces a change we will post the changes on the athletic website and make announcements here at school.

Attention all junior student athletes.  The Booster Club wants to buy you a senior jacket.  Yes, if you have earned a varsity letter this year the Booster Club wants to buy you a varsity jacket.  Please stop by Mr. Campagna’s office to be measured and to select your jacket.

Spring Season Tryouts

Tryouts are scheduled as follows:

Tennis:  Boys’ and Girls’ Tennis will be held at Forest Park from 3 – 5 pm. While we will provide transportation to and from the Park on Monday, March 21st, students must arrange their own transportation on a regular basis.

Track and Field:  Boys’ and Girls’ Track and Field will be held outside on school grounds from 3 – 5 pm  Once the teams have been selected some practices will be held on school grounds immediately after school and some practices will be held at AIC beginning at 5:30 PM.  On AIC practice days, student must leave campus and arrange their own transportation to AIC.

Volleyball:  Boys’ Volleyball tryouts will be held from 3 – 5 pm in the main gym at school.  On an ongoing basis, the varsity will practice most days from 3 – 5 pm and the junior varsity will practice from 5 – 7 PM.

Baseball / Softball:  Tryouts will be held on the athletic fields from 3 – 5:30 PM.  Once the teams have been selected, the coaches will distribute a practice schedule.  Most practices will be held immediately after school; however some regular practices may be scheduled on a weekend day.

Daily Update

Today is the day for your boys varsity basketball team to try and advance to the Western Mass finals with their game at 4:30 PM.  The boys match up against Hoosac Valley.  A limited number of seats remain on the student fan bus.  Tickets cost $7 for students and $10 for adults and are available at the door.  If you are interested in reserving a seat on the bus, please turn in a signed permission slip and the $7 this morning to either Mr. Campagna or Mrs. Martin-Ryan.  The bus leaves promptly at 3:00 PM.  Don’t be shut out.  Plan to be in the stands and cheer your boys to victory.  Also – the guys have requested that you wear black to the game to show your support.

Online registration for all spring sports is in full swing on the family ID website.  There will be no in-person registration sessions. The season begins for all sports in less than two weeks on Monday, March 21st.  You must have a valid physical exam on file with the nurse and register online in order to be eligible.  Otherwise, all students in grades 7 – 12 are eligible to participate.  Register early.  We will be offering teams for baseball, softball, boys’ volleyball, boys and girls tennis, and boys and girls track and field.  See Mr. Campagna or Nurse Dupuis if you have any questions about your physical exam or about your registration.  Some of the sports have big registration numbers already – register early so you can get cleared to tryout.  Don’t wait until the last minute.

Daily Update

Congratulations to your boys varsity basketball team on their quarter final win over Mohawk Trail Regional High School on Friday.  A near sellout crowd watched Nathan Colon go off for 28 points, including 7 3-pointers to lead the way.  Jaren Suttles was solid defensively and Justin Rennis added 26 points with an outstanding offensive show himself.  The guys advance to the Western Mass semi-final round on Wednesday of this week at the UMass Cage.  Game time is 4:30 PM and tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students.

Kolby Smith was one of just three Western Mass wrestlers to place in the New England tournament held in Providence, RI this past weekend as the senior finished 6th overall in the 170 pound category.  Congratulations, Kolby!

Finally your bowling club made a strong showing in the state tournament as they finished 11th overall in their division.  Colin Fairman finished 10th in the state, while Shayne Audet was able to finish 24th overall as well.

Preseason workouts for spring sports will be held all week.  Please see a spring coach or ask a teammate for the exact days and times for each session.  There will no after school athletic programs on Wednesday.

We would like to have a student fan bus for the game on Wednesday.  We are looking for two adult chaperones.  If anyone is interested please message or speak to Mr. Campagna.  We will have more details later today if we can put the trip together.
