Avalon Mateo scored the only Bulldog goal and Kayla Brown recorded 9 saves, and the girls varsity soccer team managed a 1 – 1 draw in their Saturday game against Southwick.  The game was their final regular season contest and the girls will now wait for the tournament seedings to be released later this week.  Good luck to the girls in the MIAA tournament.  The jv girls soccer team ended their season with a 3 – 1 loss to Southwick on Saturday.  Your girls varsity volleyball team swept Nauset High School on Friday to end their regular season as well.  They will also wait for the tournament seedings to learn where they will open their MIAA tournament run.  Today the boys’ soccer teams close out their regular season with their own senior day games against Hopkins Academy.  Later this week the boys and girls cross country teams will enter the City Championships on Friday and the PVIAC meet on Saturday.  Good luck to all.  Let’s get ready to fill the stands with Bulldog fans.

Attention all students.  The winter athletic season is just around the corner and the family ID website is open for registration for cheerleading, boys or girls’ basketball and wrestling. Remember you must register online and have a current physical exam on file with the nurse in order to be eligible to attend a tryout session.  Also any student with an outstanding disciplinary consequence will be unable to attend a tryout or conditioning session for any winter sport.  Please do not wait until the last moment to register as we may be unable to confirm medical clearance if you wait until the final week to register.  Tryouts for cheerleading will begin on Monday, November 21st, while tryouts for wrestling and basketball will be held one week later beginning on November 28th.

In one of the most exciting volleyball matches in our school’s history, your girls varsity volleyball team downed Easthampton on senior night by a 3 – 1 score to earn a spot in the MIAA post season tournament.  It was a full team effort as Angie Gonzalez, Julia Guilbert, Markina Ako-Brew, Remani Lizana and a host of others gave outstanding performances to ensure the league win and the tournament invitation.  Congratulations to all for a job well done!  The jv girls lost in the preliminary match by a 2 – 1 score despite solid play from Brianna Martinez, Lauren Hunter, Nia Major and Vanessa Williams.   Today the boys’ soccer teams close out their regular season with their own senior day games against Hopkins Academy.  Finally, tomorrow the girls soccer teams have their senior day festivities with games at 11:00 AM against Southwick.  Good luck to all.  Let’s get ready to fill the stands with Bulldog fans.

Avalon Mateo continued her torrid streak of goal scoring as your girls varsity soccer team earned a 1 – 0 win over Chicopee High yesterday and qualified for the MIAA Western Mass tournament.  Kayla Brown recorded the shutout in the goal, while Franchesca Diaz was solid at the defender position. Tiffany Alban netted the assist for the girls who scored in the first half and then held on for the victory. Your jv girls lost a 2-0 game although Bailey Barlow, Grace Blasé, Sydney Borders and Amanda Odom played well.  Your girls varsity volleyball team opened their match with a convincing one-sided win over Belchertown, but they couldn’t keep the pace as they fell by a 3 – 1 score.  The girls must win their senior day match on Thursday in order to earn their invitation to the MIAA tournament.  The jv lost in straight sets in the preliminary match.  Nia Major and Tylesia Cooper played well for your girls.  Finally the golf team ended their season yesterday with Michael Bushey playing the MIAA individual tournament held at Crestview Country Club.  Today we have the boys’ soccer team entertaining Frontier Regional beginning at 4:00 PM.  Later this week we have senior days for both the boys and girls soccer teams and the volleyball team.  Good luck to all.  Let’s get ready to fill the stands with Bulldog fans.

An’Janae Washington took home top honors as your girls cross country team defeated Chicopee High in an exciting 28 – 29 race yesterday.  Washington was joined by Tanialyz Almenas (2nd overall), Eliza Mullin (6th) and Sara Miranda (7th overall with her personal best) to round out the top ten finishers.  The boys cross country team was shorthanded yesterday and they lost to Chicopee.  Nathan Colon finished second overall, while Jacob Evans was 8th for the guys.  Avalon Mateo had a goal and two assists as the girls varsity soccer team inched closer to an MIAA tournament invitation with a 4 – 3 win over Hampshire Regional last night.  Kayla Brown had 19 saves in the nets.  Tatiana Skarzynski, Frankie Diaz and Kailey Elmasion also recorded goals for the girls.  The jv soccer team fell 1 – 0 in the preliminary game.  The girls varsity volleyball team dropped their match to Ludlow in straight sets.  Remani Lizana and Markina Ako-Brew played well in the loss.  The jv girls fell 2 – 1 in the preliminary match.  Vanessa Williams and LeAudra Hayes-Phillips were solid in the loss.  Finally both the varsity and jv boys soccer teams lost to Lenox on the road yesterday.  Alex Williams scored the only goal for the guys.  There are no games scheduled today, while on Monday we will have the girls’ volleyball and the girls soccer teams each playing games here at school.  Good luck to all.  Let’s get ready to fill the stands with Bulldog fans.

October 2016 Booster Club Meeting Minutes

October 19, 2016

Present: Sharlit Ako-Brew, Kelly Blase, Tom Campagna, Todd Fairman, Kelli Holt, Crystal Lizana, Tyrone Reid

* The minutes from the September 13th meeting were read and unanimously accepted.

* The financial report was distributed by Crystal Lizana and was reviewed and unanimously accepted.
* Kelli Holt gave the final report on Homecoming 2016. Over $1,200 in profit was realized in the food concession and over $300 profit in the tag sale booth. It was noted that holding the volleyball event in the back gym was a huge success as visitors were able to enjoy the match and visit booths in the area. It was also discussed that a notice to neighbors announcing the event may be a good idea in the future.

* Todd Fairman gave a final report on the fall raffle. Over $2,800 in profit was realized by the general Booster Club fund and an additional $2,800 in profit was split between the teams’ individual accounts. It was decided that $30 will be assessed to any student athlete not returning their sold / unsold tickets in the future and that winners will have 365 days from the raffle period to claim their winnings or the money will be returned to the Booster Club general fund.

* Tom Campagna indicated that the new gym floor should be completed and the facility fully open prior to 11/15.

* With regard to senior day events, it was unanimously decided that any team that has more than four seniors may utilize $25 per additional senior (from their own team funds) to pay for senior day events.

* It was unanimously decided to not allow any cotton candy to be made, sold or otherwise make its way into the concession building (The Holt Law).

* It was unanimously decided to donate $100 to the Parent Connection for their annual Trunk or Treat event.

* The fall athletic awards ceremony will be held on Monday 11/21. Refreshments will be served at 5:30 PM and the event will begin at 6:00 PM.

Premere Long scored the game’s only goal early in the second half as your boys varsity soccer team took a 1 – 0 win over Easthampton last night.  Shayne Audet recorded the shutout in the nets.  The win keeps the guys tournament hopes alive as they improved their season record to     6 – 8 – 1.  The jv guys lost in the preliminary by a score of 4 – 2.  Gabriel Gray and Jeremy Townsend scored the Bulldog goals.  The golf team closed out their season with a loss against Hopkins Academy.  Austin Benoit recorded the low score of the afternoon for Sabis.  Today no events are scheduled and tomorrow we have the volleyball teams here against Ludlow High and the cross country teams at Forest Park.  All four soccer teams will be on the road.  Good luck to all.  Let’s get ready to fill the stands with Bulldog fans.

Avalon Mateo went off for four goals and your girls varsity soccer team earned a 4 – 0 win over Taconic on Saturday to keep their tournament hopes alive.  Kayla Brown and Bailey Barlow combined for the shutout in the nets.  Your boys’ varsity soccer team earned a   1 – 1 draw on Saturday up at Athol.  Gabriel Perez and Jovan Wallace combined for the goal, while Shayne Audet had 11 saves in the net.  Your jv boys soccer team took a 3 – 2 win over Athol as Jonathan Rusinque, Tre Hodge and Jeremy Townsend scored.  The varsity volleyball team lost 3 – 1 to Chicopee on Friday.  Markina Ako-Brew and Hannah Brooks were solid for the girls.  The jv girls lost in straight sets, but Genevieve Wellington and Tylesia Cooper played well for your girls.  Today it’s the girls volleyball teams entertaining Agawam with play beginning at 5:00 PM in the back gym and tomorrow we have boys soccer teams at Easthampton and the golf team at Hopkins.  Good luck to all.  Let’s get ready to fill the stands with Bulldog fans.

Your girls varsity soccer team was nearly flawless as they lost a 2 – 1 heartbreaker to Monson High School yesterday.  Avalon Mateo scored the lone Bulldog goal and Kayla Brown and Cheyenne Daniels were outstanding in the nets.  Monson scored the game winner with just 7 minutes left in the game.  Your jv girls dropped a 1 – 0 game to Monson as well.  Bailey Barlow, Amanda Odom and Amani Smith paced the girls on the afternoon. Your golf team lost a one-sided match to Mahar.  Austin Benoit posted the low score on the afternoon for the team.  Today the girls volleyball teams travel to Chicopee as they try and earn their invitation to the MIAA post season tournament.   The jv match begins at 4:00 PM.  Tomorrow both the boys and girls soccer teams are in action as the boys travel to Athol and the girls get out to Taconic High School.  Good luck to all.  Let’s get ready to fill the stands with Bulldog fans.
