The spring athletic season finally begins on Monday as your volleyball teams will travel to Holyoke High for games beginning at 4:00 PM.  Your girls’ tennis team will also open their season if the weather permits.  The weather looks promising for next week and many of your teams will get things going as well.  Good luck to all our spring teams!  Let’s get ready to fill the stands with Bulldog fans.

Booster Club Minutes

Booster Club Minutes – 3/16/17

Attendance:  Tom Campagna, Todd Fairman, Scharlit Ako-Brew, Kelly Blasé, and Kelli Holt

1.  The minutes from the 2/8/17 meeting were unanimously accepted.

2.  Financial report accepted.

3.  No update on scoreboard.

4.  Hall of Fame Inductees are:

Ed LaMothe – Coach; Joanna Whyland – Contributor; Quinsey Smith & Alex Tidland – receiving Heart Award; Cesar Sala; Blaine Bolduc; Marissa Rodriquez & Chelsea Orefice.

Dinner is all set.  Kelli Holt needs to know how many baskets.  Baskets need to be done by May 1 st .  Banquet will be on May 12th @Ludlow Country Club.  Invites for banquet will be going out through email and still deciding on how the invites will be for Inductees.  Need to find out the total of people coming to the banquet and need to have them in by May 1.

5.  Still deciding about the calendars to collect $30 upfront and until $30 is received no uniforms will be given out.  Booster club thinking of when parents sign the transportation form for sports also signing form to the selling of 3 calendars.  Tom will be changing the letter to the parents.  Tryouts starting March 20 and first games are April 3rd.

6.  Not all of the winter sport teams have had their ceremonies.  Need to send emails to the coaches regarding when they will having them.  Still working on details for giving out the Senior Jackets.  Looking like we will be having a ceremony.  Probably sometime in June.

7.  Tom has secured the soccer teams for Homecoming on September 30, 2017.  Will be working out details for volleyball and to see if Cross Country will be there as well.

Tryouts for all spring sports will take place on Monday.  Due to all the snow the spring sport tryout schedule will be as follows:  Girls’ and boys’ tennis will be bussed to Ludlow Tennis Club on Monday and Tuesday.  You will leave school by 2:45 and return shortly after 5:00 PM.  Everyone must ride the bus unless you are picked up by your parent.  Track and field will hold their tryouts in the main gym from 5:15 until 7:30 PM on both days.  Boys’ volleyball will be in the main gym on both days from 2:45 until 5:00 PM.  Softball will be in the back gym on Monday from 5:15 until 7:30 and on Tuesday from 3:00 until 5:00 PM.  Baseball will reverse that schedule and be in the back gym on Monday from 3:00 until 5:00 PM and on Tuesday from 5:15 until 7:30 PM.  Students with a tryout that begins at 5 or 5:15 may either remain in an after school study hall or go home and return in time for tryouts.  For people going to baseball, softball or track and field – please bring both indoor and outdoor clothing as you may spend some time on the hard top outside.  We will announce schedules for the rest of the week as we get a clearer picture of the weather.  Be advised that due to the indoor sessions we may have to extend the tryout dates for baseball, softball and track and field.  If you have any questions about the schedule please speak with a coach or with Mr. Campagna.

Remember you must register online and be medically cleared by the school nurse in order to be able to attend a session.

Congratulations to the bowling club as the team finished in second place in the state wide team competition.  On the individuals’ side of things – Austin Benoit was our top guy finisher – 15th overall and Sarah Brosseau was the top female finisher at 16th overall.

Tryouts for all spring sports will take place next Monday.  Be sure to listen here later this week for the exact times and locations of our opening week of spring sports.

Attention varsity student athletes in the Class of 2018 – if you earned a varsity letter this year and have not yet been measured for your senior varsity jacket please stop by Mr. Campagna’s office and do so.  There is no charge for the jacket; it is a gift from the Booster Club.

Good Luck to the SABIS Cheerleaders at the States this Sunday.  The competition will be held at Wachusett Regional High School, 1401 Main Street, Holden, MA.  For those going to cheer them on, you should arrive to the event by 3pm.  Price:  $10 adult; $7 children.

Good Luck to the SABIS Bowling Club at the States this weekend.  They will held at Greylock Bowl, 41 Roberts Drive, North Adams, MA.  The Team Event will be held on Saturday beginning at 4pm.  Both teams will be competing.  The Individual Event will be held on Sunday beginning at 11am.  We have six individuals attending (Aurora Axiotis, Austin Benoit, Sarah Brosseau, Bailey Edmonds, Colin Fairman & Allison Ledoux)

1. The minutes from the 1/11/17 meeting were unanimously accepted.

2. Crystal reviewed the financial report and income has much improved since last month.

3. Crystal reviewed the financial report and said the concession stand sales were going well.  Water and hot dogs are big sellers.  Keeping $500 in the raffle reserve.  Volunteers still needed for a few games.

4. Bob Jerard not at meeting so no update on scoreboard prices and options.

5. Hall of Fame Committee had 1 st meeting – it went well.  Event will take place on May 12th at the Ludlow Country Club.  Coaches’ appreciation dinner also not just a Hall of Fame banquet.  Keeping price at $20 a ticket and guest tickets will stay at $10.  Looking for volunteers to put raffle baskets together.  The value of the baskets are between $25-$50.  Kelli needs raffle baskets by May 1.

6. Couple of teams starting to plan their Awards Banquet.

7. Still working on details for giving out the Senior Jackets.  Might have a ceremony just for that, maybe during student life or other part of school day; maybe at 6 pm.

Congratulations to the varsity cheerleading team as they won the Western Mass competition yesterday at Shepherd Hill High School.  The girls will go at it next Sunday at Wachusett Regional as they will compete for the State Championship.  Congratulations also to Kayla Brown as her co-op ice hockey team advanced to the quarter-final round of their state championship tournament.   Good luck to all our student athletes.  An’janae Washington had 25 points and Paris Lizana added 10, but the girls varsity basketball team fell to Hampshire Regional on the road and were eliminated from the Western Mass MIAA tournament.

Tryouts for all spring season sports will begin in just two weeks on Monday, March 20th.  If you are interested in baseball, softball, boys and girls track and field, boys and girls tennis or boys volleyball please visit the family ID website to register online.  You must complete the online registration and have a complete and up to date physical exam on file with the school nurse in order to attend a tryout session  There will be no exceptions.

Your boys varsity basketball team dropped a 69-58 game to Wahconah High last night and were eliminated from the MIAA tournament.  Aaron Williams had 15 points and Tre Hodge added 10 in the loss.  Tonight the girls try to keep their season alive as they travel to number three seed Hampshire Regional for a 7:00 PM game.  Good luck to them!

All informational meetings for spring sports have been held.  If you are interested in playing a sport you must register on the family ID website and be certain the nurse has a copy of your recent physical exam.

If you are interested in baseball or softball this spring why not come to conditioning tomorrow morning.  Baseball goes from 9:00 to 10:45 and softball from 10:15 until noon.

Tonight it’s our boys’ varsity basketball team and their number one seed opening their post season run here at 7:00 PM.  The guys will match up with Wahconah High School from Dalton in the Berkshires. Doors will open at 6:00 PM and admission is $5 for students and $7 for adults.  The DJ will bring the music the guys need the students to bring the noise.  Let’s fill the stands with Bulldog fans!

Tomorrow your girls varsity basketball team moves on to the next round of tournament play as they travel to number 3 seed Hampshire Regional with a 7:00 PM game.  Ticket prices are 5 and 7$ and we hope a good number of fans make the trip.  Finally on Saturday, Kayla Brown and her co-op ice hockey teams travels to Eastern Mass for a tournament game against Matignon High School.  Good luck to all our student athletes.

Congratulations to both your boys and girls varsity basketball teams as they have each earned a bid to the MIAA tournament.  The girls are the 6th seed and will play here tomorrow night at 7:00 PM.  The boys earned the number one seed and they will play here on Thursday at the same time.  Doors open at 6:00 PM for each event and the admission is $7 for adults and $5 for students.  Season ticket and other free passes will not be honored at either event.  Good luck to both teams!

Your boys’ varsity basketball team bounced back from their Longmeadow loss as they defeated Belchertown in a one-sided game last night.  Aaron Williams led the offensive charge with 26 points and Souleymane Diaby had 10 points off the bench.  The jv team lost a close contest in the preliminary.  An’janae Washington had 13 points, but the girls varsity basketball team lost to Belchertown on the road and the jv girls dropped their contest at Belchertown.  Amani Smith and Tatianna Skarzynski provided the offensive leadership.  Tonight the girls travel to Amherst and on Friday it’s senior night for the guys as they host Minnechaug.  Let’s get out and fill the stands with Bulldog fans!

Congratulations to your boys freshmen basketball team on their 39 – 29 win over Longmeadow yesterday.  Paul Roberts paced the young Bulldogs with 12 points.  Your JV and varsity teams each dropped their games to Longmeadow last night here at school.  Souleymane Diaby had 10 points in the jv game, while Nathan Colon had 21 for the varsity.  Today it’s both the boys and girls jv and varsity basketball teams matching up with Belchertown – the boys games are here beginning at 5:30 and the girls will travel to Belchertown with games beginning at the same time.  On Thursday the girls travel to Amherst and on Friday it’s senior night for the guys as they host Minnechaug.  Let’s get out and fill the stands with Bulldog fans!

Congratulations to Christian Rivas who took home the top honors winning the Western Mass wrestling tournament last weekend.  Khadir Zachary finished in third place and Jalen Rogers took home a fourth place finish as the three wrestlers qualified for this weekend’s State tournament.  Kyle Pingree finished fifth and is an alternate for the state meet.  Congratulations also to the boys’ varsity basketball team on their one sided win over Ludlow on Friday.  Nathan Colon had 24 points, while Justin Rennis added 15 and Aaron Williams 14 points respectively.  Your boys jv team fell to Ludlow despite 10 points from Jalen Herd.  Finally Paul Roberts had 15 points as your boys’ freshmen team defeated Ludlow on Friday.  Today the boys’ freshmen team travels to Longmeadow and the jv and varsity boys are hosting Longmeadow in what is being called the game of the week.  Tomorrow it’s both the boys and girls jv and varsity teams matching up with Belchertown – the boys games are here and on Thursday the girls travel to Amherst.  Let’s get out and fill the stands with Bulldog fans!
