New Fall Athletic Offerings
The athletic department announced that two new athletic teams will be offered to students beginning with the fall of 2017. A middle school cheerleading team and a freshmen / middle school girls volleyball team will be offered to go along with boys’ and girls’ soccer, boys’ and girls’ cross country, coed golf and the two girls’ volleyball teams that have been operating for many years. It is expected that close to 200 students will register and participate in a fall athletic experience. Registrations are handled online at www.familyid.com and must be completed prior to attending any tryout session. It is important to register now in order that you will receive pertinent information regarding dates, locations and times for all sessions which do begin prior to the first day of school. If you have any questions please call the athletic department at (413) 783-2600 x121.
We are getting down to the wire on the spring athletic season as we will have three teams playing MIAA tournament games later today. Your varsity volleyball team has advanced to the Western Mass semi-finals tonight at Agawam. Game time is at 6:30 PM. Your varsity softball team is also playing in the quarter-final round of the tournament this afternoon. The girls travel to Easthampton for a 4:00 PM game at Nonotuck Park. Finally the varsity baseball team has an opening round tournament game today at Granby High. First pitch is at 4:00 PM. Tomorrow it’s your boys’ varsity tennis team who will travel to Monument Mountain for their opening round tournament match and on Saturday Gabby Harris competes in the state championship meet in the 100 meter dash and our 4 x 100 meter relay team – who took home top honors in the West / Central meet – will try and take home the state championship. Good luck to all. Let’s get ready to fill the stands with Bulldog fans.
