It was a triple header sweep for your boys’ basketball teams as the varsity used a torrid second half of play to overcome a 10 point half time deficit and defeat Agawam High School by a score of 60 – 49. Aaron Williams, Souleymane Diaby and Jaren Suttles each recorded double figure offensive nights to lead the guys to their third league win in a row. Taj Wheeler had 14 points and Gabe Perez added 10 as the jv guys used a solid team effort to defeat Agawam in the preliminary game. On the road it was your freshmen team downing Agawam by a 59 – 20 margin as Sydney Borges had a season high 19 points and Darin Smith added 16 in the win. Today we have the girls jv and varsity basketball teams here against Granby High and tomorrow it’s the wrestling team closing out their league schedule with a match here against Hampden Charter School for Science. On Thursday the guys basketball teams travel to Chicopee Comp for a first place showdown in league play and on Friday the guys are right back into it with a home game against Holyoke High. Your girls’ varsity basketball team dropped a close contest to Palmer here on Friday. Paris Lizana had 15 points to lead the girls offensively and Genevieve Wellington was solid defensively in the loss. Your junior varsity girls took the second game of the triple header by a 33 – 22 score. Tatianna Skarzynski had 10 points to pace the girls, while MaddieWyzynski chipped in with 7 points. In the opening game of the girls’ day it was Chon-sa Cardona and Salimata Diaby with 8 points apiece leading the girls to their win over Gateway Regional. Today it’s the boys’ freshmen basketball team getting over to Agawam and the jv and varsity here for a big league game beginning at 5:30 PM. Tomorrow we have the girls jv and varsity teams here against Granby High and on Wednesday it’s the wrestling team closing out their league schedule with a match here against Hampden Charter School for Science. They guys used a high energy end-to-end defensive set to take control of the game early on. Aaron Williams had 12 points and Tre Hodge 8 in the total team effort. James Gonzalez had 22 points and Taj Wheeler added 10 as the junior varsity basketball team took the win in the preliminary game.
