Aaron Williams had 34 points and 24 rebounds to lead your boys’ varsity basketball team to a 74 – 71 win over Chicopee in the opening round of the Hoophall Classic at Springfield College last night. Williams was solid on both ends of the floor as he hoisted the Bulldogs on his back to lead them to the impressive win. Tre Hodge (!2 points, 6 boards and 3 assists) and Souleymane Diaby (14 points and 7 boards) were also solid throughout. Ja’Quan Johnson gave an outstanding defensive effort in the team win for the Bulldogs. Williams needs just 47 points to reach the 1000 point career milestone.

Madeline Wyszynski had 16 points and 8 rebounds but your girls freshmen basketball team fell to Minnechaug yesterday by a score of 44 – 24.
It’s finally here! Today is the opening day of the 2019 Hoophall Classic held at Springfield College and our guys varsity basketball team opens up the event with a 4:00 PM game against Chicopee High. Christian Rivas finished first overall as your wrestling team took home a 4th place finish in the 11 team field at the Taconic tournament on Saturday. Rivas won at the 120 pound class, while Christian Kelley, Xavier Reyes and Jalen Rogers took home second place finishes in a solid showing.
Your girls varsity basketball team dropped a 37 – 34 contest at Longmeadow High on Friday. Alicia Mitchell led the team in scoring and rebounding, while Safaire Bryant helped to nullify any rebounding advantage Longmeadow expected to have.
Alexa Davis led the way offensively, but the girls jv basketball team dropped the preliminary game at Longmeadow on Friday.
Kofi Agyei-Yeboah, Siare Barklow, Eric Bass and James Monts were solid for the boys indoor track team on Friday.
If you weren’t here at school on Thursday night, you missed one of the biggest basketball wins in school history as the boys varsity defeated Central by a 50 – 48 score in overtime. Aaron Williams had 25 points to lead the way.

Your boys varsity basketball team dropped an 80 – 59 road contest last night at Holyoke High. Aaron Williams had 18 points to lead the team, while Kisean Johnson added 14 in the loss. Alex Williams, Dom Spradley and Rob Scoville led the way in the jv game as the guys managed to earn an exciting win over Holyoke in the preliminary game. The boys freshmen basketball team lost a one-sided game against Holyoke High yesterday here in the main gym. Jaylen Lovejoy had 12 points to lead the guys, while Matt Consedine added 11.

It was a busy vacation for your winter season athletic teams as your boys varsity basketball team earned wins over Commerce and Longmeadow. Aaron Williams had 22 points in the Longmeadow win, while Tre Hodge and Kisean Johnson added 12 and 11 points respectively.
The girls varsity basketball team improved their record to 6 wins against just one loss on the season with vacation wins over Paolo Friere and Hampshire Regional. Alicia Mitchell had 14 points – 12 in the 4th quarter – to lead the girls over Hampshire, while Safaire Bryant had 19 points and Mitchell had 10 in the Paolo Friere contest.
Your wrestling team earned a top five finish against teams from all divisions in Agawam’s Phil Tomkiel tournament. Christian Rivas and Jalen Rogers took home first place finishes in the event, while Xavier Reyes and Quintin Pellegrino finished 3rd and 4th overall respectively.

Christian Rivas took home first place honors and was named the recipient of the most outstanding wrestler award at the Longmeadow High Early Bird Tournament held on Saturday. Rivas and Jalen Rogers won first place in their respective weight classes, while Xavier Reyes finished fourth and Christian Fagan had a 6th place finish to celebrate a successful team day.
Your boys indoor track team earned their first win of the season with an indoor win over Putnam High. Jason Daniels won the 55 meter sprint, Kofi Agyei-Yeboa took first in the 300 meter and Siare Barklow took home the top honors in the 600 meters. Others scoring points for the Bulldogs were Elijah Nixon, Antonio Rivera, Luke Goodchild and James Monts.

Both the boys and girls indoor track teams opened their inaugural seasons up at Smith College on Friday. Gabriela Harris finished second in the 55 meter dash and Vannessa Williams had a second place finish in the shot put. For the guys Siare Barklow, Elijah Nixon and Kofi Abyei Yeboah each recorded second place finishes on the afternoon.
Today the girls varsity and jv basketball teams open their season on the road at Turners Falls and tomorrow the boys open their home season with games tipping at 5:30 PM against South Hadley. With the win the girls improved their season record to 10 wins against just 2 losses and they earned an invitation to the MIAA postseason tournament which begins early in June. Jayden Dow was solid in the circle as she pitched the complete game shutout registering 13 strikeouts while allowing just two hits. Bailey Barlow led a balanced offensive team effort. Your girls varsity tennis team lost to Mohawk Trail Regional on Friday. Beyonca Twiggs and Rhayanna Shubrick took home the only team point at first doubles. Your boys varsity baseball team defeated Southbridge High on Saturday by a 6 – 3 score, while the jv also earned a win at Southbridge thanks in part of Donavan Dulude who pitched well in his mound debut. Bryan Trinh scored three times for the guys. Congratulations to your boys varsity volleyball team as they also qualified for the MIAA tournament with their sweep over Ware High on the road. Ki-Sean Johnson, Esias Valentin and Paul Roberts led the guys to the impressive road victory. The jv guys also swept their match with Davian Alban, Devon Boreland, Ibrahim Diaby and Evan Tran solid throughout. Finally both track teams were impressive in their meet on Friday. Jayden Dow pitched the complete game to earn the win as the freshman scattered five hits while striking out seven hitters. Amanda Odom, Alexa Jacques and Jada Ficarra were solid offensively for the girls. The jv softball team dropped a competitive game at Granby as well. Remie Jerard won at first singles and Danielle Atayan and Beyonca Twiggs took home the other singes wins as the girls varsity tennis team defeated Renaissance over the vacation week. The boys volleyball team after opening their season with five straight wins fell to Agawam High on Friday in straight sets. The varsity baseball team recorded a competitive loss over the week, but they gave Coach John Bednaz lots of optimism as the season gets into full swing. The varsity softball team got rained out over the week, but they’ve got nine games scheduled over the next two weeks. Finally the boys track team recorded an impressive win over Commerce to improve their record to 3 and 0 for the season.

Sydney Borges and Darin Smith added 13 and 11 points respectively to lead a balanced afternoon of play. The jv guys picked up a solid team win last night as Gabriel Perez had 19 points and Kevin West added 10 to pace the guys to the road win at West Springfield. The varsity guys couldn’t get it going and they lost in the main event. Tonight is senior night for the wrestlers as they host Minnechaug here at 7:00 PM and the girls jv and varsity basketball teams travel to Amherst for games beginning at 5:30 PM. Once again Austin Benoit was solid with 20 assists, 15 digs and 5 aces on the afternoon. Kawuane Jackson, Ki-Sean Johnson and Aaron Williams each earned praise from the coaches on their fine performances. Both the girls and boys track teams fell to West Springfield in opening season meets. Tatianna Skarzynski took home top overall honors in both the 100 meter dash and the high jump. Individual winners included Kailey elmasion, Eliza Mullin, Remani Lizana and Franchesca Diaz. The boys tennis team dropped a 3 – 2 heartbreaker to Holyoke high as 7th grader Matthew Wraga swept the match at second singles and Chris Gonzalez and Matthew Elmasian took home the win at first doubles.
