Amani Smith and Samantha Townsend had 14 points apiece as your girls varsity basketball team earned a 64 – 27 win over HCSS here last night. The jv girls also took home a win against Baystate Academy in the preliminary game. James Gonzalez had 13 points and Alex Williams and Gabe Perez finished with 11 apiece but the boys’ jv basketball team dropped a double overtime game on the road at Longmeadow. The boys freshmen took home a one-sided win in the preliminary. Rob Scoville had 14 points to lead all scorers as the boys improved their season record to 3 – 1. Tonight we have Longmeadow High here against your girls jv and varsity basketball teams and the Bowling Teams are at Shaker Bowl starting at 3:30 pm. Quadir Price and Erik Bass led the way offensively as your boys freshmen basketball team downed Northampton High on the road by a score of 38 – 32 yesterday afternoon.  The guys used a stifling man-to-man team defense to shut down Northampton in the final minutes and clinch the hard fought victory.  Your freshmen girls’ team got out to a 10 – 0 run to open the game, but they couldn’t handle Chicopee’s defensive pressure and they lost despite a game high 11 points from Kailie Methe.  Today the girls jv and varsity are here beginning at 5:30 PM. And the boys’ freshmen and jv basketball teams get over to Longmeadow High.  Tomorrow the girls jv and varsity are right back at it with a double header here against Longmeadow High and on Friday it’s all three boys basketball teams taking on Putnam High.  The freshmen game is here with a 4:00 PM tip.  Remember that staff will be admitted free of charge to any regular season home game and student tickets will be priced at $3.00 for all jv and varsity events and just $1.00 for an afternoon freshmen game.  Other adult tickets are priced at $5.00.  Season tickets are available for adults at $40.00 and for students at $20.  These will cover admission to any regular season winter athletic event for all sports.    Let’s get a big crowd out there.  Let’s fill the stands with Bulldog fans.

Jaren Suttles had a career high 30 points and Aaron Williams added 21, but the boys’ varsity basketball team dropped an exciting game to Northampton by a score of 76 – 70 here last night.  James Gonzalez had 11 and Taj Wheeler added 9 points for the jv in the preliminary contest.  Your girls varsity basketball team lost a one-sided game at Chicopee.  Amani Smith led all Bulldog scorers.  Your jv girls dropped their contest.  Sauna Charles led the girls scoring attack.  Finally, it was the girls’ freshmen basketball team dropping their contest at East Longmeadow.  Kaile Methe had 22 points to lead all scorers, while Salimata Diaby had 4 blocks and 5 points.  Today we have both freshmen basketball teams in action with the girls here at 4:00 PM.   Tomorrow the girls jv and varsity are here beginning at 5:30 PM. Your boys’ varsity basketball team dropped a nail-biter last night at Commerce as Aaron Williams had 28 points to lead the guys charge.  Jaren Suttles scored 14 in the back and forth contest.  The jv guys also dropped their game at Commerce despite 11 points from James Gonzalez and 9 from Jalen Thomas.  Your boys’ freshmen salvaged the only win on the afternoon with a 50 – 30 win against Commerce here at home.  The girls varsity basketball team is back home tonight with a 6:00 PM start, the wrestlers get over to South Hadley and the girls freshmen basketball team travels to Westfield for a game at St. Mary High School.   Remember that staff will be admitted free of charge to any regular season home game and student tickets will be priced at $3.00 for all jv and varsity events and just $1.00 for an afternoon freshmen game.  Other adult tickets are priced at $5.00.  Season tickets are available for adults at $40.00 and for students at $20.  These will cover admission to any regular season winter athletic event for all sports.    Let’s get a big crowd out there.  Let’s fill the stands with Bulldog fans.

Tryouts for all winter athletic teams will take place today for everyone who has already registered and is ready for their athletic tryout session.  Remember you must have registered online and be medically cleared in order to for you to attend a tryout session for cheerleading, wrestling or boys or girls basketball.   Girls basketball will hold their tryouts beginning right after school in the main gym.  Cheerleading will hold their sessions in the primary gym beginning at 4:00 PM.  Wrestling will hold their tryouts in the cafetorium beginning at 4:00 PM and boys’ basketball will begin their sessions at 6:00 PM in the main gym.  Bowling Club will hold tryouts on Tuesday at 3:15 PM at Shaker Bowl.  We will provide an after school room in room 120 on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week for anyone not wanting to go home and return for tryouts.   There will be no exceptions to these procedures.  Please see a coach, the athletic trainer or Mr. Campagna if you have any questions.  Good luck to all!

Tryouts for all winter athletic teams will take place in less than two weeks from today.  But you must be registered and medically cleared in order to attend.  Registration is now open online on the family ID site for any student in grades 7 – 12 interested in cheerleading, wrestling or boys or girls basketball.  You must have a recent physical exam on file with the athletic trainer and you must be academically eligible.  Only those individuals who have completed these steps will be eligible to attend the tryout sessions.  Tryouts will begin on Monday, November 27th.   Girls basketball will hold their tryouts beginning right after school in the main gym.  Cheerleading will hold their sessions in the primary gym beginning at 4:00 PM.  Wrestling will hold their tryouts in the cafetorium beginning at 4:00 PM and boys’ basketball will begin their sessions at 6:00 PM in the main gym.  We will provide an after school room on tryout days for anyone not wanting to go home and return for tryouts.   Don’t be shutout.  Register now so you can be cleared to participate.  We will not clear anyone on the day of tryouts.

Samantha Townsend scored off a corner kick with less than one minute to go as your girls varsity soccer team earned a 1 – 1 draw against Central High School last night.  Kayla Brown had 15 saves in the nets and Zoe Stevens and Sarah Ledoux stymied Central’s leading scorer all night with outstanding defensive efforts.  Your boys varsity soccer team ended their regular season with a one-sided loss to Central in the earlier game.  The loss leaves the guys just one point shy of earning a trip to the MIAA tournament.  The jv guys dropped an afternoon game at Central as well.  Today it’s our final soccer game of the season as the jv girls travel to Central for a 4:00 PM contest.  The cross country teams will compete in the PVIAC meet on Saturday.  Good luck to all our teams.  Let’s fill the stands with Bulldog fans.

Daily Announcement (10/24)

Your girls jv soccer team scored a 2 – 1 win over Easthampton yesterday thanks to two goals from Samantha Odom.  Odom, who scored off assists from Amani Smith, received excellent play from Riley Sanderson, Danae Holmes and Mikayla Pouliot.  The varsity took a tough loss to Easthampton after surrendering two goals in the final five minutes of play.  Ajianni Blackman scored the Bulldogs’ lone goal and Kayla Brown had 12 saves in the nets.  The boys varsity soccer team suffered a similar fate as they surrendered two goals in the final nine minutes of play to fall by a 3 – 2 score at Mahar.  Chase Lamagdalaine and Dylan Hibbert recorded the goals for the guys.  The jv guys also dropped their contest at Mahar by a 3 – 1 score.    Your girls varsity volleyball team fell to Belchertown by a 3 – 1 score.  Hannah Brooks, Cassie Fairman and Emilly Howie were solid in the loss.  Your jv volleyball team took a 3 – 0 win at Belchertown thanks to a solid full squad style of play.  Finally the cross country teams had a solid afternoon after the guys took home wins against Chicopee and Renaissance, while the girls recorded a split.  Adriana Carmona took home top honors for your girls, while Nadia Nowicki finished 8th overall to lead the girls.  No games are scheduled for today, while tomorrow we have the girls soccer teams over at Longmeadow and the boys’ varsity soccer team travelling to Mohawk.  Good luck to all our teams.  Let’s fill the stands with Bulldog fans.

Your boys varsity basketball team dropped a 69-58 game to Wahconah High last night and were eliminated from the MIAA tournament.  Aaron Williams had 15 points and Tre Hodge added 10 in the loss.  Tonight the girls try to keep their season alive as they travel to number three seed Hampshire Regional for a 7:00 PM game.  Good luck to them!

All informational meetings for spring sports have been held.  If you are interested in playing a sport you must register on the family ID website and be certain the nurse has a copy of your recent physical exam.

Tonight it’s our boys’ varsity basketball team and their number one seed opening their post season run here at 7:00 PM.  The guys will match up with Wahconah High School from Dalton in the Berkshires. Doors will open at 6:00 PM and admission is $5 for students and $7 for adults.  The DJ will bring the music the guys need the students to bring the noise.  Let’s fill the stands with Bulldog fans!

Tomorrow your girls varsity basketball team moves on to the next round of tournament play as they travel to number 3 seed Hampshire Regional with a 7:00 PM game.  Ticket prices are 5 and 7$ and we hope a good number of fans make the trip.  Finally on Saturday, Kayla Brown and her co-op ice hockey teams travels to Eastern Mass for a tournament game against Matignon High School.  Good luck to all our student athletes.

Your boys’ varsity basketball team bounced back from their Longmeadow loss as they defeated Belchertown in a one-sided game last night.  Aaron Williams led the offensive charge with 26 points and Souleymane Diaby had 10 points off the bench.  The jv team lost a close contest in the preliminary.  An’janae Washington had 13 points, but the girls varsity basketball team lost to Belchertown on the road and the jv girls dropped their contest at Belchertown.  Amani Smith and Tatianna Skarzynski provided the offensive leadership.  Tonight the girls travel to Amherst and on Friday it’s senior night for the guys as they host Minnechaug.  Let’s get out and fill the stands with Bulldog fans!

Congratulations to Christian Rivas who took home the top honors winning the Western Mass wrestling tournament last weekend.  Khadir Zachary finished in third place and Jalen Rogers took home a fourth place finish as the three wrestlers qualified for this weekend’s State tournament.  Kyle Pingree finished fifth and is an alternate for the state meet.  Congratulations also to the boys’ varsity basketball team on their one sided win over Ludlow on Friday.  Nathan Colon had 24 points, while Justin Rennis added 15 and Aaron Williams 14 points respectively.  Your boys jv team fell to Ludlow despite 10 points from Jalen Herd.  Finally Paul Roberts had 15 points as your boys’ freshmen team defeated Ludlow on Friday.  Today the boys’ freshmen team travels to Longmeadow and the jv and varsity boys are hosting Longmeadow in what is being called the game of the week.  Tomorrow it’s both the boys and girls jv and varsity teams matching up with Belchertown – the boys games are here and on Thursday the girls travel to Amherst.  Let’s get out and fill the stands with Bulldog fans!

Nathan Colon had 21 points as your boys’ varsity basketball team earned a 69 – 35 league win over Chicopee Comp on Friday.  Aaron Williams, Justin Rennis and Cameron Rodriguez each had double figured scoring in the Bulldogs’ balanced attack.  The boys’ jv team let a close game get away from them in the final frame as they fell to Comp by a 59 – 45 score.  Soulemayne Diaby had 23 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks to lead the way. The boys’ freshmen team took a 45 – 34 win on the road at Comp.  Jarel Green, Jason Daniels and Paul Roberts led the balanced offensive effort. Your girls’ varsity basketball team dropped their game at Lee High by a 72 – 53 score.  An’janae Washington and Paris Lizana each recorded double figured scoring.  Finally, the jv girls took a 28 – 24 win over Lee in the preliminary game.  Tylesia Coooper had 11 points to pace the girls attack.  Today it’s girls jv and varsity teams entertaining Chicopee Comp with the opening tip at 5:30 PM and the girls freshmen team getting over to Comp earlier in the afternoon.  Tomorrow your boys get right back at it with a home game against Belchertown.  Let’s get out and fill the stands with Bulldog fans!

Paris Lizana had 21 points last night and An’janae Washington added 11, but the girls varsity basketball team couldn’t hold on as they fell to Chicopee by a score of 51 – 48.  The jv girls dropped the preliminary game despite another solid effort from Tyleisia Cooper, while the freshmen lost a 34 – 31 game at Comp.  Bailey Barlow had 16 points and 10 steals to lead the girls.  Today your boys basketball teams are scheduled to play Chicopee Comp with the jv and varsity here at school and the freshmen on the road, while the girls JV and varsity travel out to Lee High School.   Let’s get out and fill the stands with Bulldog fans! 

Conditioning will be held tomorrow for any boys interested in baseball from 9:00 AM until 10:45 and for girls interested in softball from 10:15 until noon.

Nathan Colon had 20 points and Justin Rennis and Aaron Williams added 16 apiece as the boys’ varsity basketball team scored a 66 -57 win over South Hadley last night.  The win improves the guys’ record to 11 – 3 on the year.  Your JV guys lost a 54 – 51 heartbreaker in the preliminary game.  Soulemayne Diaby had 23 points and 12 boards to pace the guys.  Gabriel Perez had 15 points and Jared Denson added 9 as your boys freshmen basketball team closed an 18 point deficit in the final frame to take a 44 – 43 win over Ludlow in an afternoon game.  Finally, it was senior night for the wrestlers and although they dropped the team contest, seniors Taariq Woods and Kyle Pingree each recorded wins in their final home matches of their high school careers.  Nicely done, guys!  Today we have all three girls basketball teams matching up with Chicopee High and tomorrow your boys teams are scheduled to play Chicopee Comp, while the girls JV and varsity travel out to Lee High School.   Let’s get out and fill the stands with Bulldog fans!

It was a sweep for your Bulldog athletic teams yesterday as the girls’ varsity basketball team took home a 50 – 38 win over Amherst last night.  An’janae Washington went off for 23 points and Safaire Bryant added 6 points and 7 rebounds to pace the girls to the league victory.  Tylesia Cooper had 16 points and 12 rebounds in the preliminary game as the girls’ JV team also took a win over Amherst.  Tatianna Skarzynski had 8 points and 9 boards in a supporting role.  Finally it was the boys’ freshmen basketball team on the road at Somers High School.  The guys took a 53 – 39 win with Paul Roberts going off for 11 points and Kevin West adding 9.  Tonight we have the boys basketball teams getting out to South Hadley in an important league game and tomorrow – it’s senior night for the wrestlers here beginning right before 7 pm and the boys freshmen basketball team will travel to Ludlow for a 3:30 PM contest.  On Thursday we have all three girls basketball teams matching up with Chicopee High and on Friday your boys teams are scheduled to play Chicopee Comp, while the girls JV and freshmen travel out to Lee High School.   Let’s get out and fill the stands with Bulldog fans!

Your girls basketball teams dropped all three games to Chicopee Comp yesterday with the varsity on the short end of a 54 – 31 game.  Remani Lizana had 10 points and 8 boards to lead the effort.  The JV lost in the preliminary, but Tylesia Cooper had 15 points and 13 rebounds in the losing effort.  Finally it was your girls’ freshmen team who dropped the afternoon game here at school.  Bailey Barlow was solid all-around.  Today it’s the guys varsity basketball team trying to get back on the winning track as both the jv and varsity entertain Agawam with games beginning at 5:30 PM and the freshmen travel to Agawam for a 4:00 PM tip.  Tomorrow your wrestlers are at Chicopee Comp.  Let’s get out and fill the stands with Bulldog fans!

It was a down day for Bulldog athletics as the girls varsity basketball team dropped a road game to Lenox High School last night by a score of 56 – 47.  Paris Lizana had career-high16 points for the Lady Dogs.  The jv girls dropped the preliminary game by a 35 – 22 score despite another solid effort from Tylesia Cooper who had 9 points and 12 rebounds on the night. The boys freshmen basketball team fell to Tantasqua by a score of 46 – 41.  Jason Daniels had 12 points in the losing effort.  The wrestlers dropped their league match at Hamdpen Charter School of Science.  Christian Rivas and Jason Alves continued their individual winning ways. We have no information about the girls’ freshmen game.   Today’s it’s your girls’ freshmen basketball team here at 4:00 PM against Chicopee Comp and the girls’ jv and varsity on the road at Comp with games beginning at 5:30 PM.  Tomorrow it’s the guys trying to get on the winning track as the jv and varsity entertain Agawam and the freshmen travel there as well.  On Saturday your wrestlers are at Chicopee Comp.  Let’s get out and fill the stands with Bulldog fans!
