Your boys varsity basketball team took home a hard fought victory over Mount Greylock here on Saturday by a score of 59 – 54.  The guys dug an early hole for themselves falling behind by 11 points in the opening three minutes of play.  But a team style effort and a no quit attitude gave the guys the win as they advance to play at UMass on Tuesday in the Western Mass semi-final game.  Tre Hodge led the way on Saturday with 19 points, while Aaron Williams added 11 to lead a balanced offensive effort.  The guys will play tomorrow at UMass in an 8:00 PM game.  Tickets for the event are $10 for adults and $7 for students.  Congratulations also go out to the cheerleading team on their successful defense of their Western Mass championship.  The girls will now compete for the State Championship next Sunday out at Whitman Hanson High School.   Good luck to all!  Let’s fill the stands with Bulldog fans.

Preseason track conditioning will begin this Thursday from 5 – 7 pm.  You may not remain after school.  You must go home and return for conditioning.

Tonight the tournament basketball has been postponed. The guys are home with a 2:00 PM tip tomorrow against Mount Greylock Regional High School. Tickets for this MIAA event will be priced at $7 for adults and $5 for students. There are no free passes for the game. Doors will open one hour prior to the tip. We need a big crowd in the stands so we ask that you try and get to the game whenever it is played. Let’s fill the stands with Bulldog fans!
 
Sunday, the Cheerleader go for Western Mass Title at Holyoke High School. Doors open at 9am and the girls performed at 10am. Come cheer them on.

Congratulations to the boys’ basketball team on their third place seed for the Western Mass MIAA tournament.  The guys have earned a first round bye and won’t play until Friday of this week.  They will be right here with a 7:00 PM tip against the winner of a play-in game.  Tickets for the MIAA event will be $5.00 for students and $7.00 for adults.   There will not be any free passes to the event.  Doors open at 6:00 PM.  Let’s try and fill the stands for the game!  Congratulations also to the varsity cheerleading team on their league championship victory yesterday in the invitational event.  The girls are now primed and ready to defend their Western Mass banner this coming weekend.  Finally, congratulations to Christian Rivas who took home a third place trophy in the All-Sates, All Divisional wrestling championships this past weekend.  Finally, congratulations to Kayla Brown and her co-op ice hockey team, as they host an opening round game tomorrow night at the Olympia in West Springfield.  Good luck to all!

Congratulations to Christian Rivas, Khadir Zachery and Jalen Rogers as they each took home the Western Mass Championship honor in this past weekend’s MIAA Regional Championship match.  Congratulations also goes to the entire team on their second place finish in the tournament.  Rivas, Zachery and Rogers, along with Nehemiah Johnson, Jacob Dagenais, Xavier Reyes and Jason Alves all qualified for the State wide championship tournament to be held this coming weekend.  Good luck to all!  Congratulations also goes to the boys varsity basketball team on their exciting win over Easthampton on Friday.  Jaren Suttles, Soulemayne Diaby, Aaron Williams and Tre Hodge each had double figures in a very balanced scoring night.  The guys moved closer to earning a post season invitation with the divisional victory.  It was a good weekend all around as the junior varsity cheerleading team took home first place in their competition on Sunday.  Congratulations to the girls on their first win!  There are no games scheduled today, but tomorrow will see the boys basketball teams looking for a tournament clinching win as they travel to South Hadley for games at 5:30 and 7 PM, while the girls basketball teams travel to Palmer for games at the same times.  Thursday and Friday it’s the boys and girls basketball teams on the road and the boys freshmen team is here both afternoons.  Let’s fill the stands with Bulldog fans.  Admission is just $3.00 for students, $5.00 for adults and staff is admitted free to all regular season home games.

Informational meetings for all spring sports will be held all this week with boys’ volleyball meeting today in room 235, Boys and girls track and field will be held tomorrow in room 215 , boys and girls tennis also tomorrow in the computer room, softball on Wednesday in the guidance office  and finally it will be baseball on Thursday in room 215  .  All meetings will take place during Student life Activity period.

Aaron Williams, Tre Hodge and Soul Diaby each went off for double figure scoring, but the boys varsity basketball team dropped their Hoophall game to Longmeadow High last Thursday night.  Today we have the girls jv and varsity basketball teams here against Agawam High (5:30 PM tip) and the boys freshmen travelling to Ludlow for a 4:00 PM contest.  Tomorrow it’s the wrestling team getting up to Hampshire and the boys’ freshmen basketball team travelling to Tantasqua.  Thursday brings the boys jv and varsity basketball teams here against West Springfield and the freshmen team travels there.  Let’s get some big crowds out there.  Let’s fill the stands with Bulldog fans.

The winter athletic season opens tomorrow night with the girls jv and varsity basketball teams entertaining Lee High School beginning at 5:30 PM.  Tomorrow also marks the opening night for your cheerleaders who will perform at each game.  As always staff will be admitted free of charge to any regular season home game and student tickets will be priced at $3.00 for all jv and varsity events and just $1.00 for an afternoon freshmen game.  Season tickets are available for adults at $40.00 and for students at $20.  These will cover admission to any regular season winter athletic event for all sports.  Next week – all our teams get it going as the wrestlers travel to a multi-school event on Saturday, all three girls basketball teams are on the road on Monday and your boys teams are matching up against Commerce on Tuesday.    Let’s get a big crowd out there.  Let’s fill the stands with Bulldog fans.

Tryouts for all winter athletic teams will take place today for everyone who has already registered and is ready for their athletic tryout session.  Remember you must have registered online and be medically cleared in order to for you to attend a tryout session for cheerleading, wrestling or boys or girls basketball.   Girls basketball will hold their tryouts beginning right after school in the main gym.  Cheerleading will hold their sessions in the primary gym beginning at 4:00 PM.  Wrestling will hold their tryouts in the cafetorium beginning at 4:00 PM and boys’ basketball will begin their sessions at 6:00 PM in the main gym.  Bowling Club will hold tryouts on Tuesday at 3:15 PM at Shaker Bowl.  We will provide an after school room in room 120 on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week for anyone not wanting to go home and return for tryouts.   There will be no exceptions to these procedures.  Please see a coach, the athletic trainer or Mr. Campagna if you have any questions.  Good luck to all!

Tryouts for all winter athletic teams will take place in less than two weeks from today.  But you must be registered and medically cleared in order to attend.  Registration is now open online on the family ID site for any student in grades 7 – 12 interested in cheerleading, wrestling or boys or girls basketball.  You must have a recent physical exam on file with the athletic trainer and you must be academically eligible.  Only those individuals who have completed these steps will be eligible to attend the tryout sessions.  Tryouts will begin on Monday, November 27th.   Girls basketball will hold their tryouts beginning right after school in the main gym.  Cheerleading will hold their sessions in the primary gym beginning at 4:00 PM.  Wrestling will hold their tryouts in the cafetorium beginning at 4:00 PM and boys’ basketball will begin their sessions at 6:00 PM in the main gym.  We will provide an after school room on tryout days for anyone not wanting to go home and return for tryouts.   Don’t be shutout.  Register now so you can be cleared to participate.  We will not clear anyone on the day of tryouts.

Samantha Townsend scored off a corner kick with less than one minute to go as your girls varsity soccer team earned a 1 – 1 draw against Central High School last night.  Kayla Brown had 15 saves in the nets and Zoe Stevens and Sarah Ledoux stymied Central’s leading scorer all night with outstanding defensive efforts.  Your boys varsity soccer team ended their regular season with a one-sided loss to Central in the earlier game.  The loss leaves the guys just one point shy of earning a trip to the MIAA tournament.  The jv guys dropped an afternoon game at Central as well.  Today it’s our final soccer game of the season as the jv girls travel to Central for a 4:00 PM contest.  The cross country teams will compete in the PVIAC meet on Saturday.  Good luck to all our teams.  Let’s fill the stands with Bulldog fans.

Your varsity volleyball team closed out their regular season on senior day yesterday with a loss to Easthampton.  It was the final time for seniors Hannah Brooks, Brionne Burnett and Zhalyn Burton.  Thanks to the girls for a great career!  The jv lost in the preliminary game despite great work by Kyra Scott, Jaida Bednaz, Angelica Colon and Lela Ficarra.  Today the boys soccer teams entertain Easthampton High in games beginning at 4:00 PM.  Good luck to all our teams.  Let’s fill the stands with Bulldog fans.

Congratulations to the boys varsity soccer team on their 5 – 0 win over Mohawk Trail Regional High School last night.  Tre Hodge, Medhi Akram, Jovan Wallace, Brandon Rusinque and Chas Lamaglelaine scored for the guys, while Anthony Lazzari, Alex Williams, Gabe Perez and Hodge were solid defensively.  The girls soccer teams each dropped one-sided games at Longmeadow.  Mikayla Pouliot led the way in the jv game and Kayla Brown had 10 saves for the varsity.  Today we have the jv and varsity volleyball teams closing out their seasons with games here against Easthampton beginning at 4:00 PM.  Good luck to all our teams.  Let’s fill the stands with Bulldog fans.

Daily Announcement (10/24)

Your girls jv soccer team scored a 2 – 1 win over Easthampton yesterday thanks to two goals from Samantha Odom.  Odom, who scored off assists from Amani Smith, received excellent play from Riley Sanderson, Danae Holmes and Mikayla Pouliot.  The varsity took a tough loss to Easthampton after surrendering two goals in the final five minutes of play.  Ajianni Blackman scored the Bulldogs’ lone goal and Kayla Brown had 12 saves in the nets.  The boys varsity soccer team suffered a similar fate as they surrendered two goals in the final nine minutes of play to fall by a 3 – 2 score at Mahar.  Chase Lamagdalaine and Dylan Hibbert recorded the goals for the guys.  The jv guys also dropped their contest at Mahar by a 3 – 1 score.    Your girls varsity volleyball team fell to Belchertown by a 3 – 1 score.  Hannah Brooks, Cassie Fairman and Emilly Howie were solid in the loss.  Your jv volleyball team took a 3 – 0 win at Belchertown thanks to a solid full squad style of play.  Finally the cross country teams had a solid afternoon after the guys took home wins against Chicopee and Renaissance, while the girls recorded a split.  Adriana Carmona took home top honors for your girls, while Nadia Nowicki finished 8th overall to lead the girls.  No games are scheduled for today, while tomorrow we have the girls soccer teams over at Longmeadow and the boys’ varsity soccer team travelling to Mohawk.  Good luck to all our teams.  Let’s fill the stands with Bulldog fans.

There were no athletic games scheduled yesterday.  Today we have the girls soccer teams here against South Hadley beginning at 4:00 PM.  Tomorrow it’s your girls freshmen volleyball team travelling to Longmeadow High School for a full day of exhibition matches. Monday we have the girls soccer teams here against Easthampton High and it’s senior day for the varsity.  We also have the cross country teams at Forest Park for a meet with Chicopee and Renaissance.  Monday also will see the girls volleyball teams getting over to Belchertown and the boys soccer teams travelling to Mahar Regional High School.  Good luck to all our teams.  Let’s fill the stands with Bulldog fans.

Kayla Brown recorded 12 saves, but your girls varsity soccer team dropped a 3 – 0 match to Central here on campus on Friday.  Samantha Odom and Amani Smith each recorded a goal and an assist to help the junior varsity girls’ soccer team earn a 2 – 2 draw with Central on Friday.  Odom, Smith, Cabielyn Gagnon, Danae Holmes and Kailie Methe played well for the girls. 

Today we have individual and team pictures for all fall interscholastic athletic teams after school.  Tomorrow we have the golf team travelling to McCann Tech for a 3:00 PM match, the girls’ soccer teams travelling to Holyoke High for a double header and the cross country teams over at Forest Park against Duggan and Central.  We also have the boys’ soccer teams entertaining Mahar here at 4:00 PM.  On Wednesday it’s all three girls’ volleyball teams travelling to Holyoke for games beginning at 4:00 PM.  Good luck to all our teams.  Let’s fill the stands with Bulldog fans.

Let’s begin making plans for a full day of athletic events on Saturday.  The freshmen volleyball teams gets things going with a 9:00 AM match against Ludlow and continue right through until the alumni soccer games kicks off a 2:45 PM.  Why not make a day of it and come out and enjoy a day of athletic events, games of chance and some great food.
