Spring Season Tryouts

Tryouts are scheduled as follows:

Tennis:  Boys’ and Girls’ Tennis will be held at Forest Park from 3 – 5 pm. While we will provide transportation to and from the Park on Monday, March 21st, students must arrange their own transportation on a regular basis.

Track and Field:  Boys’ and Girls’ Track and Field will be held outside on school grounds from 3 – 5 pm  Once the teams have been selected some practices will be held on school grounds immediately after school and some practices will be held at AIC beginning at 5:30 PM.  On AIC practice days, student must leave campus and arrange their own transportation to AIC.

Volleyball:  Boys’ Volleyball tryouts will be held from 3 – 5 pm in the main gym at school.  On an ongoing basis, the varsity will practice most days from 3 – 5 pm and the junior varsity will practice from 5 – 7 PM.

Baseball / Softball:  Tryouts will be held on the athletic fields from 3 – 5:30 PM.  Once the teams have been selected, the coaches will distribute a practice schedule.  Most practices will be held immediately after school; however some regular practices may be scheduled on a weekend day.

Daily Update

Nathan Colon had a triple double last night as the boys varsity basketball team defeated Belchertown by a score of 76 – 46.  Colon had 13 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the guys to their win.  Justin Rennis had a double double as well.  Aaron Williams went off for 31 points and 12 boards as the JV guys took the preliminary game by a 61 – 49 score.  Kisean Johnson had a double double in the win as well.  Tonight, it’s the girls jv and varsity entertaining Belchertown and tomorrow it’s the Western Mass tournament for your wrestling team.  Good luck to all.  Let’s get ready to fill the stands with Bulldog fans!

Believe it or not – Online registration for all spring sports began earlier this week on the family ID website.  There will be no in-person registration sessions. The season begins for all sports on Monday, March 21st.  You must have a valid physical exam on file with the nurse and register online in order to be eligible.  Otherwise, all students in grades 7 – 12 are eligible to participate.  Register early.  We will be offering teams for baseball, softball, boys volleyball, boys and girls tennis, and boys and girls track and field.  See Mr. Campagna if you have any questions.

Preseason workouts for softball will continue this Saturday in the back gym from 12:30 – 2:30 PM.  Registration is not needed.  Just show up.

Tianna Scott had a double double, but your girls varsity basketball team fell to Chicopee Comp on Tuesday.  Last night it was the boys who lost a heartbreaker to Comp despite 20 points and 15 rebounds from Justin Rennis.  Christian Garcia-Nieves earned his 100th career win last night as the wrestling team took a league win over Hampshire Regional on Senior night.  Tonight your boys jv and varsity basketball teams travel to Belchertown and the girls freshmen team gets over to Chicopee.  Tomorrow, it’s the girls jv and varsity entertaining Belchertown.   Let’s get ready to fill the stands with Bulldog fans!

Attention any boy in grades 7 – 12 who is interested in playing baseball this spring.  There will be an informational meeting today during Student Life period.  Please plan to come to the meeting during your own Student life period and meet the coaches and learn about important information.  Students in grades 9 – 12 the meeting is in room 103.  Students in grades 7 and 8 – your meeting is in room 218.

Pins by Christian Revas and Kolby Smith gave the varsity wrestling team a 42 – 41 win over Southwick last night.  Sydney Boarders had 21 points and the girls freshmen basketball team earned a hard fought 36 – 23 win over Mohawk Trail Regional High School.  Tonight the guys basketball teams are here against South Hadley and tomorrow, the girls jv and varsity get over to Chicopee High, while the freshmen team is here at 4:00 PM.  Let’s get ready to fill the stands with Bulldog fans!

An’janae Washington had 24 points and 10 steals as your girls varsity basketball team defeated Amherst by a score of 47 – 40.  Safarie Bryant lead the way for the girls jv win in the preliminary.  Today your girls freshmen have the main gym game at 4:00 PM and the wrestlers travel to Southwick.  Tomorrow, the guys basketball teams are here against South Hadley and on Friday, the girls get over to Chicopee High.  Let’s get ready to fill the stands with Bulldog fans!

The boys varsity basketball team dropped a close game on the road yesterday to Agawam by a score of 49 – 39.  Jahleel Gabriel led all Bulldog scorers with 10 points.  Your boys freshmen basketball team staged a torrid fourth quarter as they defeated Agawam by a score of 49 – 37.  Donte Bolden had 20 points in the win.  Today your girls jv and varsity get up to Amherst and tomorrow your girls freshmen have the main gym game at 4:00 PM and the wrestlers travel to Southwick.  On Thursday, the guys basketball teams are here against South Hadley and on Friday, the girls get over to Chicopee High.  Let’s get ready to fill the stands with Bulldog fans!

Your varsity baseball team kept their tournament hopes alive with a 6-2 win over Holyoke Catholic yesterday.  Shayn Audet scattered 3 hits to pick up the complete game win on the mound and he also knocked in two runs to pace the offensive charge.  Your jv team lost despite a solid effort by Austin Lucas.  The varsity softball team pounded out 10 hits, but fell to Easthampton by a score of 11-6.  Kayla Brown, Maggie McCarthy, Anissa Pouliot and Amelia Rivera had two hits apiece on the afternoon.  The girls tennis team was swept by West Springfield by a score of 5-0.  Today we have the boys tennis team over at Central and both track teams will participate in the All-City meet at Central. Tomorrow it is a full day of events as the baseball teams, the softball teams and the varsity volleyball teams are all at home.  Make plans to attend one of these contests.  Let’s get ready to fill the stands with Bulldog fans.

 

The spring season athletic awards ceremony and the presentation of senior jackets will be held on June 10th.  Please make plans to attend the festivities.

Your jv softball team earned a 20-10 win over Pathfinder yesterday as Nasia Torres pitched the complete game for the win.  Jillian Jacques scored four runs in the win.  The jv baseball team lost to Pathfinder by a score of 13-5.  Lorenzo Lugo and James Theriault played well.  Your girls tennis team lost to Holyoke by a 3-2 score.  Abby Sullivan won at first singles and Frankie Diaz and Jada Rogers took home the point at first doubles.  The girls track team cleaned up in the running events yesterday as Gabby Harris won at both the 100 and 200 meter dashes and Anjanay Washington took home top honors in the 400 meter race.  Erykah Morgan, May Ellen Manley, the 4 by 100 and the 4 by 400 relay teams each took home top honors as well.  Today it’s the softball teams making the trip to McCann Tech, boys tennis at PVCS and the varsity volleyball team entertaining Commerce here.  Thursday has the baseball teams travelling to St. Mary High.  The varsity is under the lights (7 PM start) at Bullens Field in Westfield.  Make plans to attend one of these contests.  Let’s get ready to fill the stands with Bulldog fans.

Congratulations to your girls tennis team on their exciting 3-2 win over Central yesterday.  Abby Sullivan won in straight sets at first singles and Jada Rogers and Frankie Diaz took home the point at first doubles, while Emma Smith and Aurora Axiotis won the deciding point at second doubles.  Your boys tennis team fell to Westfield by a score of 4-1.  Anh Nugyen won at second singles for the only point of the afternoon.  Your varsity softball team staged a big rally to take the lead in the top of the 7th.  But they couldn’t hold on as they fell to Ware by a score of 7-6.  Sara Brown, Kayla Brown and Anissa Pouliot had two hits apiece to lead the offensive barrage.  Your jv softball team fell to Ware despite getting out to an early lead.  Today it’s your boys and girls track teams getting over to East Longmeadow for a multi-school meet and tomorrow your boys track team takes on Putnam in a morning meet at Central High School.  Make plans to attend one of these contests.  Let’s get ready to fill the stands with Bulldog fans.

Congratulations to the girls varsity tennis team as they swept Cathedral yesterday by a 5-0 score.  Abby Sullivan, Olivia Hatten and Cassandra Fairman took the singles matches, while Frankie Diaz and Jada Rogers won at first doubles and Emma Smith and Aurora Axiotis completed the sweep at second doubles.  Marcus Hernandez had two hits and two RBI, but the varsity baseball team dropped a road game at Hampshire Regional.  Your varsity softball team knocked out 7 hits and Jada Ficarra pitched well enough to win, but the girls dropped an 8-4 game to Holyoke Catholic.   Today we have varsity volleyball over at Dean Tech and the boys tennis team entertaining St. Mary High at Forest Park.  Tomorrow it’s the softball teams travelling to Palmer and the baseball teams entertaining Monson.  Make plans to attend one of these contests.  Let’s get ready to fill the stands with Bulldog fans.

Xavier Vegerano had three hits, but that was all the guys could manage as the varsity baseball team lost to Ware – on the road- yesterday.  Julio Ocasio and Austin Lucas played well but the  jv team also lost to Ware.  Jada Ficarra pitched good enough to win, but the varsity softball team lost a close contest to Granby by a 6-3 score.  Kori Megit, Kayla Brown and Sarah Brown led the offensive charge.  The girls tennis team lost 4-1 to Chicopee, but Frankie Diaz and Cassandra Fairman were solid at first doubles.  Today we have boys tennis at West Springfield and we close out the week tomorrow with both baseball teams and volleyball teams here at school and both the softball teams getting over to Monson.  Make plans to attend one of these contests.  Let’s get ready to fill the stands with Bulldog fans.

Nasia Torres and Kayla Brown led the offensive charge and Lindsay Fontaine was solid on the mound as your varsity softball team scored a one-sided win over Dean Tech yesterday to even their season record at 4 and 4.  Your varsity baseball team jumped out to an early lead, but they were unable to hold things as they fell to Hopkins Academy.  Shayne Audet had two hits to lead the Bulldog offensive charge.  Your JV baseball team also lost to Hopkins.  Matt Parent, James Theriault and Michael Perez played well for the junior Dogs.  Both the boys and girls tennis teams matched up against stiff competition as the girls fell to Minnechaug and the boys lost to Greenfield.  Today, the softball teams make it 3 games in 3 days when they travel to Granby and the baseball teams do the same as they travel to Ware.  The varsity volleyball team will host Dean Tech and the girls tennis team is at Forest Park.  Tomorrow we have boys tennis at West Springfield and we close out the week on Friday with both baseball teams and volleyball teams here at school and both the softball teams getting over to Monson.  Make plans to attend one of these contests.  Let’s get ready to fill the stands with Bulldog fans.

Kyle Pingree was masterful on the mound and Xavier Vegerano provided the offensive punch as your varsity baseball team defeated Palmer by a score of 4-2.  Anissa Pouliot knocked out five hits and Jada Ficarra, Kori Megit and Aemelia Rivera had two hits apiece as the varsity softball team defeated Pathfinder by a 19-17 score.  Your girls varsity tennis team was swept by Belchertown and the boys varsity volleyball team lost a five set contest to Holyoke High.  Colin Fairman had 27 assists for the guys.  Both the jv softball and baseball teams lost yesterday.  John Ortiz and James Theriault played well for the guys.   Today your girls varsity softball team will get out to Dean Tech, while the baseball teams entertain Hopkins Academy.  The girls tennis team travels to Minnechaug and the boys tennis team is at Forest Park.  On Wednesday, the softball teams make it 3 games in 3 days when they travel to Granby and the baseball teams do the same as they travel to Ware.  The varsity volleyball team will host Dean Tech and the girls tennis team is at forest Park.  Make plans to attend one of these contests.  Let’s get ready to fill the stands with Bulldog fans.

Congratulations to your Varsity baseball team as they made it two in a row with a 3-2 win over PVCS.  Kyle Pingree pitched the complete game to earn the win, while Sylvain Audet, Cameron Rodriguez and Griffin Spear provided the offensive punch for the Bulldogs.  Your boys varsity tennis team lost a heartbreaker to St. Mary High School.  Anh Nugyen won again at second singles and Taariq Woods swept at third singles for the guys two points.  Roberto Falvo and Christopher Calvanese dropped a closely contested match at first doubles. Your girls track team lost at West Springfield and the girls tennis team fell 4-1 to Central at Forest Park.  Today your baseball teams travel to Mt. Everett and the varsity softball team gets over to Westfield Voke.  The volleyball team is home against Westfield and the boys tennis team is at Forest Park. Tomorrow we have the softball and the volleyball teams here at school and the girls tennis team gets over to Chicopee High for a 4:00 PM match.  Make plans to attend one of these contests.  Let’s get ready to fill the stands with Bulldog fans.

The second doubles team of Cassie Fairman and Nyah Seago took home the afternoon’s only points as your girls varsity tennis team fell to Belchertown by a score of 4-1.  There are no games or athletic events scheduled for today, but tomorrow we have a full slate of events as the softball teams are scheduled to open things here against Smith Academy, the girls tennis team travels to Northampton, the boys track team makes history with their first meet ever at Southwick and the volleyball teams travel to Belchertown.  Thursday has the softball team at home again against Gateway, the boys tennis team at Blunt Park against Sci-Tech and the girls track team gets things going at Central against Sci-Tech and Putnam.  Make plans to attend one of these early season contests.  Let’s get ready to fill the stand with Bulldog fans.
