Congratulations to your girls’ varsity tennis team as they defeated St. Mary’s of Westfield by a   4 – 1 score yesterday.  Danielle Atayah and Rhyanna Shubrick won at second and third singles, while Beyonca Twiggs and Katie Sharpe took home the first doubles win and Venus Nguyen and Nyan Seago won at second doubles.  Your boys’ track and field team made it 2 wins and 0 losses on the year as they defeated Sci-Tech yesterday.  Leon Spradley took home top honors in the javelin, Tre Hodge was first overall in the 400 meter and Noah Valentine took home first place in the 800 meter run.  The triple jump saw a sweep by the Bulldogs!  Your boys’ varsity baseball team dropped a one-sided game to Ware High School.  Trey Faulkner recorded 7 strikeouts on the hill, while Gabe Perez and Jake Dagenais were solid offensively.  Today we have the girls track and field team and girls tennis teams in action and over vacation week we have all the teams playing.  Check out the schedules on Masslive or on our athletic website. Your varsity softball team earned a one-sided win over Pope Francis  yesterday to improve their season record to 3 wins against just one loss.  It was a solid team effort as Jayden Dow, Jada Ficarra and Kaileen Davis combined fir the two-hitter.  Your varsity baseball team dropped a one sided game on the road at Hampshire yesterday.  Justin Pierce and Tre Faulkner led the offensive effort.  The guys open their home schedule today if the weather permits.

Yesterday’s athletic events were postponed so today we have the baseball teams heading out to Hampshire Regional  and it’s Pope Francis visiting the varsity softball team for a 4 PM game.  Tomorrow will see the baseball teams opening their home seasons and the girls tennis team and boys track and field team get back into action.  We round out the week with the girls track and field team and girls tennis teams in action on Friday. The boys’ varsity volleyball team made it three wins in a row as they defeated Sci-Tech yesterday on the road by a 3 – 0 score.  It was a total team effort as Esias Valentin, Dylan Hibbert, Aaron Williams and Ki-sean Johnson led the way for the guys.  Joseph Torres and Darith Soeun were also solid.  The JV lost by a 2 – 1 score in the preliminary.  Your varsity softball team gave a game effort but they fell to Hopkins here at home by a 12 – 7 score.  The girls fell behind early and just couldn’t recover from the early deficit.  Alyssa Padilla and Jada Ficarra had two hits apiece to pace the offensive charge.  The jv girls lost over at Greenleaf despite a solid outing from Lillian Dow and Kaileen Davis.  Today – if the weather permits the baseball teams open their seasons with games at Hampshire Regional and tomorrow it’s Pope Francis visiting the varsity softball team for a 4 PM game.  Thursday sees the baseball teams opening their home seasons and the girls tennis team and boys track and field team get back into action.  We round out the week with the girls track and field team and girls tennis teams in action on Friday. Jayden Dow had 11 strikeouts and pitched a three-hit shutout as the varsity softball team earned a 6 – 0 win over Lee High School here on campus yesterday afternoon.  Amanda Odom had three hits and two RBI, while Kayla Brown and Bailey Barlow added two hits apiece to lead the offensive charge.  Today the jv and varsity softball teams will entertain Hopkins Academy with games beginning at 4 PM, while the boys volleyball teams get over to Sci-Tech and the girls track and field team takes on Putnam.  Tomorrow the baseball teams open their seasons with games at Hampshire Regional and on Wednesday it’s Pope Francis visiting the varsity softball team for a 4 PM game.  Thursday sees the baseball teams opening their home seasons and the girls tennis team and boys track and field team get back into action.  We round out the week with the girls track and field team and girls tennis teams in action on Friday. Congratulations to your boys’ varsity track and field team on their 68 – 65 win over Putnam to open their season.  Elijah Nixon, Jahmal Campbell and Evan Hill each qualified for the Western Mass meet on the basis of yesterday’s top performances.  Nick Audette, Tre Hodge, Siare Barklow and Nehemiah Johnson each took home honors to lead the guys.  Congratulations also to your varsity softball team as they came from behind to defeat Putnam by a 10 – 7 score.  Jayden Dow pitched a gutsy complete game for the win, while Maddie Wsyzynski had 3 hits to lead the offense.  Kayla Brown, Hannah Brooks, Amanda Odom, and Lela Ficarra had two hits apiece.  Finally your varsity volleyball team made it a Bulldog sweep on the day with their straight set win over Ware High School.  Aaron Williams, Esaias Valentin, Joseph Torres and Ki-sean Johnson led the guys to their second win in a row.  Today – if the weather permits – baseball, softball, girls’ track and girls’ tennis join in the excitement with 4:00 PM contests.  Good luck to all our teams.  Let’s fill the stands with Bulldog fans.

Your boys’ volleyball team got their season off to a great start last night as they opened up against Southwick High School. The Bulldogs, the defending league champions, earned a victory in their home opener in straight sets: 25-17, 25-23, 26-24. Head Coach, Alexis Chappell, was pleased with her team’s overall performance but felt that things could be a little more offensive on the attack stating “this was a good way to start the season. I know our team is young but I see that the boys want to be winners and they will do anything it takes to become winners. I’m very excited for this season and the many more games to come.”
 
In the preliminary game, the boys jv volleyball team took a 2-1 win over Southwick. Devon Boreland and Davian Alban were solid each with 10 Aces to lead the guys. Evan Tran and Liam Jansen anchored the defense.
 
Today, if the weather permits, your varsity softball team opens their season with a 4:15 PM home game against Lee High School. Good luck to all!

Tryouts for all spring interscholastic athletic teams will continue today with Boys’ volleyball in the main gym from 3 – 5 pm.  Tennis for girls will be held at Ludlow Tennis Club – a bus will leave here at 2:30 PM and will return at 5:30 PM.  All students must ride the bus to Ludlow.  Softball and baseball tryouts will be held here from 3 – 6 PM.  Please dress for indoor and outdoor drills.  Boys and girls track and field will be held here from 5 – 7 PM.  Again, please dress for both indoor and outdoor drills.  Students attending the track and field tryout sessions must leave the building and return for 5 PM.  No one will be allowed to hang around unsupervised at school until track tryouts.  Good luck to everyone today.

The spring season of our interscholastic athletic programs begins today with tryouts for all athletic teams.  Boys’ volleyball will be held in the main gym from 3 – 5 pm.  Tennis for boys and girls will be held at Ludlow Tennis Club – a bus will leave here at 2:45 PM and will return at 6:00 PM.  All students must ride the bus to Ludlow.  Softball and baseball tryouts will be held here from 3 – 6 PM.  Please dress for indoor and outdoor drills.  Boys and girls track and field will be held here from 5 – 7 PM.  Again, please dress for both indoor and outdoor drills.  Students attending the track and field tryout sessions must leave the building and return for 5 PM.  No one will be allowed to hang around unsupervised at school until track tryouts.  Remember to tryout you must be medically cleared and you must register online.  To participate you must have cleared the academic eligibility process.  Finally if we do not have additional boys register for tennis we will be forced to cancel the season.  With that in mind, any boy who has registered for tennis there will be a meeting today during Student Life Activity period in room 120.   Good luck to everyone today.

Believe it or not – the spring season for our interscholastic athletic programs begins on Monday.  Tryout / practice sessions for Monday are as follows:

·          Boys and girls tennis:  Bus will leave here at 2:45 PM for Ludlow Tennis Club and return by 6:00 PM.  All student must ride the bus.

·         Softball:  3 – 6 pm here at school.  Please dress for indoors and outside play.

·         Baseball:  3 – 6 PM here at school.  Please dress for indoor and outside play.

·         Volleyball (boys):  3 – 5 PM in the main gym.

·         Track and Field (boys and girls)  5 – 7 PM.  Please dress for indoor and outside play.  Students MUST leave school and return for 5:00 PM session.

Your boys varsity basketball team took home a hard fought victory over Mount Greylock here on Saturday by a score of 59 – 54.  The guys dug an early hole for themselves falling behind by 11 points in the opening three minutes of play.  But a team style effort and a no quit attitude gave the guys the win as they advance to play at UMass on Tuesday in the Western Mass semi-final game.  Tre Hodge led the way on Saturday with 19 points, while Aaron Williams added 11 to lead a balanced offensive effort.  The guys will play tomorrow at UMass in an 8:00 PM game.  Tickets for the event are $10 for adults and $7 for students.  Congratulations also go out to the cheerleading team on their successful defense of their Western Mass championship.  The girls will now compete for the State Championship next Sunday out at Whitman Hanson High School.   Good luck to all!  Let’s fill the stands with Bulldog fans.

Tickets for this MIAA event will be priced at $7 for adults and $5 for students. There are no free passes for the game. Doors will open one hour prior to the tip. Sunday, the Cheerleader go for Western Mass Title at Holyoke High School. Doors open at 9am and the girls performed at 10am. Come cheer them on.

Congratulations to the boys’ basketball team on their third place seed for the Western Mass MIAA tournament.  The guys have earned a first round bye and won’t play until Friday of this week.  They will be right here with a 7:00 PM tip against the winner of a play-in game.  Tickets for the MIAA event will be $5.00 for students and $7.00 for adults.   There will not be any free passes to the event.  Doors open at 6:00 PM.  Let’s try and fill the stands for the game!  Congratulations also to the varsity cheerleading team on their league championship victory yesterday in the invitational event.  The girls are now primed and ready to defend their Western Mass banner this coming weekend.  Finally, congratulations to Christian Rivas who took home a third place trophy in the All-Sates, All Divisional wrestling championships this past weekend.  Finally, congratulations to Kayla Brown and her co-op ice hockey team, as they host an opening round game tomorrow night at the Olympia in West Springfield.  Good luck to all!

Congratulations to the boys’ basketball program as they swept three games from Agawam yesterday.  The varsity scored a come from behind win with a torrid fourth quarter of play to take the 66 – 56 win on the road.  Aaron Williams had 26 points, while Tre Hodge had 14 and Jaren Suttles added 11.  The jv guys had another solid win in the preliminary game as Taj Wheeler knocked down 18 points and Jalen Coates added 14.  Finally in the freshmen game here at school, it was Robert Scoville with 20 points and Darin Smith and Sandro Diaz with 14 and 11 respectively to give the guys a 79 – 43 win.  Today it’s the girls jv and varsity basketball teams getting up to Granby and the boys’ freshmen are here again against Tantasqua in a 4:00 PM home contest.   Later today we have seven wrestlers competing for the Division 3 state title in Eastern Mass and the cheerleading team travels to another invitational meet this weekend in preparation for the Western Mass championship the end of the month.  We have a number of home basketball games next week including senior nights for both the boys and girls teams.  Home games are scheduled for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.  Let’s fill the stands with Bulldog fans.  Admission at home games is just $3.00 for students, $5.00 for adults and staff is always admitted free to all regular season home games.

Congratulations to your boys’ varsity basketball team as they defeated South Hadley last night on the road by a score of 77 – 57.  The win ensures the guys of an invitation to the MIAA Western Mass tournament which begins late this month.  Tre Hodge (19), Aaron Williams (17), Jaren Suttles (16), Soulemayne Diaby (14) and Ki-Sean Johnson (8) highlighted a very balanced offensive effort.  The jv guys also took home the win in the preliminary game as Taj Wheeler had 15 points and Kevin West added 10 for the guys.  The girls varsity basketball team dropped their game at Palmer.  Paris Lizana had 13 points and Amani Smith added 9. Congratulations to Christian Rivas, Khadir Zachery and Jalen Rogers as they each took home the Western Mass Championship honor in this past weekend’s MIAA Regional Championship match.  Congratulations also goes to the entire team on their second place finish in the tournament.  Rivas, Zachery and Rogers, along with Nehemiah Johnson, Jacob Dagenais, Xavier Reyes and Jason Alves all qualified for the State wide championship tournament to be held this coming weekend.  Good luck to all!  Congratulations also goes to the boys varsity basketball team on their exciting win over Easthampton on Friday.  Jaren Suttles, Soulemayne Diaby, Aaron Williams and Tre Hodge each had double figures in a very balanced scoring night.  The guys moved closer to earning a post season invitation with the divisional victory.  It was a good weekend all around as the junior varsity cheerleading team took home first place in their competition on Sunday.  Congratulations to the girls on their first win!  There are no games scheduled today, but tomorrow will see the boys basketball teams looking for a tournament clinching win as they travel to South Hadley for games at 5:30 and 7 PM, while the girls basketball teams travel to Palmer for games at the same times.  Thursday and Friday it’s the boys and girls basketball teams on the road and the boys freshmen team is here both afternoons.  Let’s fill the stands with Bulldog fans.  Admission is just $3.00 for students, $5.00 for adults and staff is admitted free to all regular season home games.
