Sean Akey hit a half court buzzer beater to give your boys freshmen basketball team a one point (48 – 47) overtime win over Ludlow yesterday afternoon.  Akey’s shot capped a torrid fourth quarter charge to get back into the game and force the overtime period.  Jay’lin Lovejoy had 18 points before fouling out in the overtime period to lead the Bulldog offensive efforts.  Akey added 11 and Isaiah Jones had 10 points.
Your jv guys defeated Easthampton by a score of 67 – 35 on the road.  Kevin West, Tareeq Evans and Alex Williams led the team effort.
The boys varsity made it a clean sweep on the day as they defeated Easthampton by a score of 66 – 49.  Aaron Williams had 19 and Souleymane Diaby had 18 points to pace the offensive efforts.  Jamal Jackson and Kisean Johnson chipped in with 9 points apiece.  Jackson had 10 assists as well.
Today is senior night for the girls basketball team as they will entertain Granby here with a 5:30 jv game and the varsity game to follow.  Be here early to honor the team’s senior class.
Tomorrow we close out the week with the guys freshmen here at 4:00 PM and the jv and varsity heading over to Minnechaug for games at 5:30 and 7:00 PM.

Daily Announcement

Christian Rivas took home the top spot in the Western Mass wrestling tournament for the third time in his career as he will now advance to the state tournament next weekend.  Rivas will be joined at the tournament by Jalen Rogers and Christian Kelley, who each finished second in Western Mass and Quintin Pellegrino and Xavier Reyes who also took home top five honors.  Congratulations and good luck to them all!
Your indoor track teams completed their season on Friday as Vannessa Williams, Elijah Nixon and Gabby Harris represented our school to conclude our first ever indoor season.
Friday was also a big night for the boys varsity basketball team as they defeated Agawam in a league contest.  Souleymane Diaby and Aaron Williams led the offensive charge in the win.
Your boys freshmen basketball team dropped their game at Agawam. Jaylin Lovejoy had 19 points to lead the guys in the road game.
Today we have the girls jv and varsity here for a 5:30 PM double header.  The girls need the win to qualify for the MIAA tournament to be held later this month.  Let’s fill the stands and cheer our girls on to a win.

Your girls varsity  basketball team earned a 47 – 21 home court win over Hampden Charter School for Science last night and moved to within one win of the 10 required for an invitation to the MIAA post season tournament.  Safiare Bryant had 15 points, while Paris Lizana and Sydney Barklow added 9 apiece.
The girls freshmen dropped a nail biter on the road at Pathfinder by a score of 30 – 27.  Tracy Njuguna and Talia Thomas had 9 points each to lead the offensive effort and Kavonnah Moore grabbed 8 rebounds in an impressive effort.
Tonight the boys jv and varsity basketball teams entertain Agawam with games beginning at 5:30 PM, while the boys freshmen team travels to Agawam for a 4:00 PM contest.
Today we also have the qualifiers from the boys and girls indoor track teams competing to advance to the state championship meet.  Good luck to all!
Finally tomorrow is the Western Mass championships for wrestlers.  The all-day affair gets going at Franklin Tech by 9:00 AM.  Good luck to all our wrestlers.
The family ID website is now open for registration for all spring sports.  Tryouts for all teams begins on March 18th.
Conditioning workouts this weekend for softball are on Saturday from 9 – 11 and for baseball on Sunday from 11:30 until 1:00 PM.  All are welcome to attend either event.

Aaron Williams had 17 points, Souleymane Diaby added 16 and Tre Hodge had 13 as your boys’ varsity basketball team used a torrid third quarter en route to a 69 – 47 win over Minnechaug last night. Chris Kelley and Kisean Johnson were solid defensively in the win.
 
Kevin West, Rob Scoville and Dom Spradley led the way for the jv guys basketball team’s win in the preliminary game.
 
Today your girls varsity basketball team has a special 6:00 PM – varsity only game against Hampden Charter School for Science and tomorrow it’s the guys back in action with games here beginning at 5:30 PM against Agawam.
 
It’s Western Mass championship wrestling on Saturday as the wrestlers get up to Franklin Tech. Good luck to all!
 
Today it’s the boys volleyball informational meeting for spring sports. The volleyball meeting will be held in room 215 during each Student Life period. No problem if you have missed an earlier meeting. Just register online and get your physical exam on file with the athletic trainer and you will be set for tryouts.
 
Finally – it’s time for conditioning sessions for both baseball and softball. This Saturday from 9 – 11 we have softball workouts and on Sunday from 11:30 – 1:00 PM we will have baseball workouts. Registration is not required. All are welcome!

Souleymane Diaby had 16 points and Tre Hodge added 14 as your boys’ varsity basketball team earned a 48 – 46 league win on the road at Chicopee Comp.  The guys fell behind early, but used an excellent third quarter to earn the win.  The jv guys dropped the preliminary game.  Alex Williams, Isaiah Ramos and Kevin West were solid throughout.  Finally the freshmen dropped their home contest to Chicopee Comp.  Jaylin Lovejoy had 18 points and Eric Thomas added 12 in the loss.
It was senior night for your wrestlers and they closed out their regular season with a win over South Hadley last night.
Today Minnechaug is in the building to play our boys basketball team.  There will be a brief ceremony honoring Aaron Williams and his 1000 point milestone prior to the varsity game.  Tomorrow your girls varsity basketball team has a special 6:00 PM – varsity only game against Hampden Charter School for Science and on Friday the guys are back in action with games beginning at 5:30 PM here against Agawam.

Congratulations to your girls varsity basketball team on their win over Amherst Regional last night.  Safaire Bryant had 19 points in the win and Paris Lizana added 10.  The win improved the girls record to 8 – 8 as they moved closer to earning an invitation to the MIAA post season tournament.
Janiah Carroll led the offensive charge with 10 points and Salimata Diaby added 7, but the girls jv basketball team fell in the preliminary game.

Tre Hodge had 22 points and Aaron Williams added 20 as your boys varsity basketball team used a solid fourth quarter to earn the league win at West Springfield on Friday night.  Williams scored his 1000th career point and ended the game with 1005 in his career.
The jv guys took a decisive win in the preliminary contest, while the freshmen lost at home in the afternoon.  Isaiah Ramos, Rob Scoville and Kevin West led the team effort in the jv game, while Matt Consedine and Eric Thomas led the offensive effort for the freshmen.

Congratulations to your girls freshmen basketball team on their 41 – 27 win over Gateway last night.  Talia Thomas led all scorers with 19 points.  Thomas also gathered 12 rebounds and 11 steals.  Tracy Njunga added 13 points in the win.
Your jv girls recorded a decisive win over Monson by a score of 50 – 20.  Salimata Diaby had 12 points to lead the balanced attack, while Janiah Carroll chipped in with 10 points to aid the offensive efforts.
Your varsity fell to Monson in the feature game by a 44 – 40 score.  Paris Lizana had 15 to lead your girls offensively.
Tonight the boys jv and varsity travel to West Springfield, while the boys freshmen host West Side in a 4:00 PM home contest.  Aaron Williams is looking for his 1000th career point in the varsity game.  Tomorrow the wrestlers get out to Ashland for a multi school event.
Attention girls planning to play a spring sport.  If you’re looking to get in some conditioning tomorrow we will have preseason softball conditioning in the gym from 9 – 11.

Yesterday’s wrestling match was postponed until next Tuesday.  Make plans now to attend senior night for our wrestlers.
Today, if the weather permits, we will have the girls jv and varsity basketball teams here against Monson High beginning at 5:30 PM.  The girls freshmen team will travel to Gateway for a 5:00 PM contest.
Tomorrow the boys freshmen basketball team entertains West Springfield, while the jv and varsity will travel to West Side for games at 5:30 and 7:00 PM.  Don’t forget that Aaron Williams will be attempting to reach the 1000 career point milestone during the game.
Saturday will find the wrestlers getting out to Ashland for an elite set of dual matches at Ashland High School.

Most games were postponed last night most notably your boys jv and varsity basketball games scheduled with Minnechaug.  They were rescheduled for next Wednesday, February 6th.
The game that was played saw your boys freshmen basketball team fall to Minnechaug on the road by a score of 55 – 46.  Once again Matt Consedine led all scorers with 21 points and Jay’lin Lovejoy added 14 in the loss.
Tonight the wrestlers will hold senior night here at school and tomorrow finds the girls jv and varsity at home against Monson.
Next week we will begin holding informational meetings for all spring sport teams.

Congratulations to your boys freshmen basketball team on their 47 – 43 win over Tantasqua yesterday.  Matt Consedine had 24 points to lead the guys, while Sean Ackey chipped in with 11.  The guys took the lead for good with about two minutes left in the game.
Your girls varsity basketball team dropped a 66 – 39 road contest last night.  Safaire Bryant had 16 points in the loss.  Autumn Palaia-Ryan was solid throughout.
The jv girls dropped a 32 – 21 game in the preliminary event.  Kalis Malcolm led the offensive effort.
Tonight the boys’ jv and varsity basketball teams try and move closer to winning their league banner as they entertain Minnechaug.  Aaron Williams needs just 15 points to score his 1000th career point.  The jv game tips at 5:30 PM and the varsity game will follow.  Also today the boys freshmen team gets right back into action with a 4:00 PM game at Minnechaug.

Daily Announcement (1/28/19)

Vannessa Williams took home first place honors in the shot put and earned a pace in the Western Mass championship meet, but the girls indoor track team dropped their meet on Friday up at Smith College. Gabby Harris was second overall and had another Western Mass qualifying distance in the long jump. Michaela Denson finished second in the shot put and now must wait to see if her distance can get her an invitation to the championship meet.
 
For the boys Michael Giraud-Budd, Antonio Rivera, Siare Barklow, Elijah Nixon, and Ethan Wells each recorded personal bests on Friday.
 
The wrestlers took three of their four team matches on Saturday.
 
This is a big week for athletic events. Today we have the boys freshmen basketball team entertaining Tantasqua here at 4:00 PM, while the girls jv and varsity basketball teams travel to Granby for an important league game. Tomorrow Aaron Williams tries to get his 1000th career point as the guys host Minnechaug with the jv tip at 5;30 and the varsity at 7:00 PM. Tomorrow the boys freshmen travel to Minnechaug for a 4:00 PM game.
 
Wednesday is senior night for your wrestlers as they host South Hadley at 7:00 PM and on Thursday the girls jv and varsity basketball teams host Monson beginning at 5:30 PM.
 
We round out this week with the boys freshmen basketball team entertaining West Springfield at 4:00 PM on Friday and the jv and varsity traveling to West Side for a night time double header.

Talia Thomas had 17 points and 13 rebounds to lead the girls’ freshmen basketball team to a  31 – 27 win over Bay State Academy.  Kayleeana Colon added 6 points and 10 boards in the win.
Sydney Barklow went off for a career high 23 points, but the girls varsity basketball team fell to Palmer by a score of 65 – 52.  Rhayanna Shubrick added 10 points in the loss.  Kalis Malcolm had 10 points and Maddie Wyszynski added 6, but the girls jv basketball team dropped the preliminary game at Palmer.
Today we have the boys and girls indoor track teams completing their regular seasons with a meet at Smith College and tomorrow it’s the wrestling team getting over to Chicopee Comp for a multi-school event.  Good luck to all our student athletes.

Wins by Christian Kelly, Christian Rivas, Quintin Pellegrino, Xavier Reyes, Jalen Rogers , Austin Patterson and Davian Alban were not enough as the varsity wrestling team lost their league match at Hampden Charter School for Science last night.  The guys will get right back into it this Saturday in a multi-school event at Chicopee Comp.
Today the girls basketball teams try to inch closer to a tournament invitation as the jv and varsity travel to Palmer.  The freshmen travel to Bay State Academy for a 4:00 PM game.
Tomorrow we have both the boys and girls indoor track teams matching up with Agawam up at Smith College.

Aaron Williams had 32 points and Tre Hodge and Souley Diaby had 15 apiece as the boys varsity basketball team earned a hard fought win over Agawam by a score of 77 – 65 last night.  Your jv guys also earned a convincing win in the preliminary game.  Rob Scoville, Kevin West and Alex Williams led the team effort in the win.  The freshmen guys made it a clean sweep as Matt Consedine had 21 points to lead the freshmen to a come from behind win over Agawam yesterday by a score of 59 – 53.  Eric Thomas had 10 points.
Your girls freshmen basketball team scored a 28 – 9 road win at Gateway yesterday.  Talia Thomas and Kayleeana Colon had 8 points apiece in the win.

Both the boys and the girls indoor track teams had good showings on Friday night as Elijah Nixon, Siare Barklow, Luke Goodchild, and Antonio Rivera established personal bests.  On the girls side Michaela Denson took top honors in the shot put and established a new personal best, while Ajianni Blackman and Antoinette O’Connor were solid in the high and long jumps respectively.
Your girls varsity basketball team got back to winning ways as they defeated Ludlow by a score of 42 – 26.  Safaire Bryant and Rhayanna Shubrick recorded double figure scoring to pace the girls. Salimata Diaby had 10 points to lead a balanced attack as the jv girls took home the win in the preliminary contest.
Today we have the boys jv and varsity basketball teams traveling to Agawam, the girls freshman basketball team getting out to Gateway and the boys freshmen team is here at 4:00 PM.
Tomorrow the wrestling team travels to Hampden Charter School of Science as they will try and keep their league championship hopes alive.  Good luck to all!

Davian Alban, Quintin Pellegrino Christian Rivas and Christian Kelly had impressive individual wins and the varsity wrestlers defeated Southwick by a score of 48 – 18 last night on the road.
Madeline Wyszynski had 16 points and 8 rebounds but your girls freshmen basketball team fell to Minnechaug yesterday by a score of 44 – 24.
It’s finally here!  Today is the opening day of the 2019 Hoophall Classic held at Springfield College and our guys varsity basketball team opens up the event with a 4:00 PM game against Chicopee High.  Advance tickets are sold out, but there will be plenty of tickets available at the door for $10.00.  Tickets are good for all games today.
Tomorrow your boys and girls indoor track teams travel to Smith College for their league.  Good luck to all!

Daily Announcement (1/16/19)

Tre Hodge scored the last eight points of the game and 15 points overall as the boys varsity basketball team defeated Chicopee Comp by a score of 55 – 52 last night.  But it wasn’t really the amount of points he scored that was so impressive … it was the manner in which he accomplished his feat.  Hodge banked home a 75 foot, three quarter court shot for the game winning three point hoop as the buzzer sounded. Bulldog fans rushed the floor and carried the game’s hero from the court and to the hand shake line.  Hodge’s heroics were just part of the Bulldog magic as Aaron Williams had 18 points to lead the Bulldog scoring and guys like Ki-sean Johnson, Ja’Quan Johnson, Souley Diaby, Jahmal Camobell, Jamal Jackson and the rest made it a team effort to record the league win.
The jy guys also won a nail biter as they defeated Comp by a score of 37  – 36 in the preliminary game.  Kevin West, Sidney Borges and Alex Williams were solid throughout.
In the freshmen game the guys fell to Comp by a score of 46 – 36.  Jay’lin Lovejoy had 12 points to lead Bulldog scorers.
Today the wrestlers travel to Southwick and the girls freshman basketball team gets over to Minnechaug.
And tomorrow it’s time for more Bulldog magic as the boys varsity basketball team gets back into action with the 4:00 PM game at the Hoophall Classic at Springfield College.  Tickets will be available at the door for just $10.00.  Get there early as we are expecting a big crowd.

Safaire Bryant had 12 points, but your girls varsity basketball team dropped a league game at Amherst last night.  Sauna Charles led the scoring effort in the jv game, but the girls dropped the preliminary contest as well.
Today we have the boys jv and varsity basketball teams here against Chicopee Comp as they open their league schedule.  The jv game tips at 5:30 PM and the varsity at 7:00 PM.  The freshmen guys are on the road at Comp this afternoon.
Tomorrow has the wrestling team in action at Southwick and the girls freshman basketball team gets over to Minnechaug for a 4:00PM game.

Christian Rivas finished first overall as your wrestling team took home a 4th place finish in the 11 team field at the Taconic tournament on Saturday. Rivas won at the 120 pound class, while Christian Kelley, Xavier Reyes and Jalen Rogers took home second place finishes in a solid showing.
 
Your girls varsity basketball team dropped a 37 – 34 contest at Longmeadow High on Friday. Alicia Mitchell led the team in scoring and rebounding, while Safaire Bryant helped to nullify any rebounding advantage Longmeadow expected to have.
 
Alexa Davis led the way offensively, but the girls jv basketball team dropped the preliminary game at Longmeadow on Friday.
 
Kofi Agyei-Yeboah, Siare Barklow, Eric Bass and James Monts were solid for the boys indoor track team on Friday.
 
If you weren’t here at school on Thursday night, you missed one of the biggest basketball wins in school history as the boys varsity defeated Central by a 50 – 48 score in overtime. Aaron Williams had 25 points to lead the way.
 
Today the girls jv and varsity basketball teas travel to Amherst for games at 5:30 and 7:00 PM and tomorrow the boys are home against Chicopee Comp.

Davian Alban scored a huge pin at the 220 pound weight class to secure the league win for your varsity wrestling team last night.  Alban brought the crowd to their feet with his emotional solid win.
Today it’s all about basketball as the boys jv and varsity teams entertain Central here with games at 5:30 and 7:00 PM.  We are expecting a sellout crowd.  So get here early to be sure you get a seat.
Tomorrow the boys freshmen travel to Central and the girls jv and varsity basketball teams get over to Longmeadow.  Also tomorrow we have the boys and girls track teams in a meet at Smith College and on Saturday the wrestlers are in action on the road in a multi-school event at Taconic High School in Pittsfield.
