Congratulations to your boys’ varsity basketball team as they moved to within one win of earning a trip to the MIAA postseason tournament.  The guys beat Longmeadow High on the road by a score of 70 – 55.  Aaron Williams had 24 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks to lead the way, while Justin Rennis had 17 points and 11 boards and Jaren Suttles had 11 points and 4 steals to provide a spark off the bench.  The jv boys’ lost in the preliminary game despite 19 points from Soulemayne Diaby.  Your girls varsity also took home a road win with a 45 – 20 win over Murdock High School.  An’janae Washington and Remani Lizana had 9 points apiece, while Paris Lizana added 8 points.  The jv girls also earned a win at Murdock.  Tylesia Cooper had 10 points and 13 rebounds to lead the girls.  Both the boys and girls freshmen teams lost in afternoon games.  Paul Roberts paced the boys, while Kinley Orr-Westbrook paced the girls offensive output.  Today it’s your girls jv and varsity basketball teams travelling to West Springfield and tomorrow the wrestling team travels to Mount Everett.  Let’s get out and fill the stands with Bulldog fans!

Jaeden Herd, on loan from the junior varsity basketball team, had 10 points, but the boys’ freshmen team dropped a one-sided game to Central here yesterday afternoon.  Paul Roberts had 6 points in the losing effort.  The girls’ jv and varsity games, scheduled for yesterday in the Berkshires, were postponed due to the icy weather.  Today we have our first home wrestling event of the season as we host Southwick in an important league match.  Let’s get here early and fill the stands with Bulldog fans! 

Tomorrow it’s the boys’ basketball teams travelling to Longmeadow for a battle of two top teams in the Suburban League and the girls’ varsity and jv travelling to Murdock Junior Senior High School for games beginning at 5:30 PM.  We also have the girls’ freshmen team travelling to Chicopee Comp and the boys’ freshmen basketball team entertaining Longmeadow here at 4:00 PM.

Congratulations to the varsity wrestling team on their league win over Gateway last night.  Quintin Pellegrino, Christian Rivas, Jason Alves, Jacob Dagenais and Kyle Pingree recorded individual wins in the team victory.

A limited number of tickets remain on sale for the boys’ basketball game at Hoophall tonight.  Tickets are $10.00 at the door, but are available here at school for just $6.00.  We will sell out very early today and there will be no more discount tickets available.   See Mr. Campagna if you want to purchase any tickets.  The game promises to be one of the best and most competitive of the year and the ticket is good for all the games played tomorrow.

Open gym for students interested in baseball or softball will be held this Saturday.  The boys will go from 9 – 10:45 AM and the girls from 10:15 until noon.

Information packets for the MLK Family Services annual Black College Tour spring trip are available in the guidance office.  If you are interested in learning about the trip please stop by the office.

Congratulations to your boys freshmen basketball team on their 56 – 46 win over Chicopee Comp yesterday.  Paul Roberts led the way with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Gabe Perez added 15 points in a wire-to-wire win.  Your boys varsity basketball team kept their hot streak going as they took  a 57 – 43 win over Comp last night.  Nathan Colon had 15 points and Aaron Williams added 14 points and 12 boards in the win.  Tre Hodge and Justin Rennis added 9  points apiece.  Your jv guys in overtime by a 71 – 69 score.  Jonathan Ortiz had 29 points and Souleymane Diaby added 21 in a very exciting game.  Today we have a freshmen double header with the boys opening things at 3:30 PM against Baystate Charter School and the girls entertaining East Longmeadow at 5:00 PM.  Today the girls jv and varsity basketball teams travel to East Longmeadow High and the guys get over to Belchertown for games beginning at 5:30 PM.  Finally tomorrow your wrestling team gets out to Gateway for a 7:00 PM varsity match.

Justin Rennis had 25 points, 14 rebounds and 8 steals to pace the varsity boys’ basketball team to a 71 – 51 win over South Hadley last night.  Rennis was aided by Aaron Williams (21 points, 11 rebounds) and Nathan Colon (18 points, 8 boards and 8 assists) in the league win.  The victory puts the guys record at 5 – 1 on the season and includes a five game win streak.  Souleymane Diaby lead the junior varsity to a 54 – 38 win in the preliminary game.  Diaby had 17 points.  Today the boys’ freshmen basketball team entertains Chicopee High in a 4:00 PM contest.  Tomorrow the wrestling team will travel to Whitman Hanson High School.

Congratulations to the girls freshmen basketball team on their win over Pioneer Valley Regional High School.  Kinley Westbrook-Orr and Maddie Wyszynski had 8 points apiece to lead the offensive charge and Bailey Barlow was solid all around with 7 points and 5 steals.  An’janae Washington had 18 points, including 5 three point hoops, but the girls varsity fell to Holyoke High by a score of 68 – 40.  Remani Lizana had 11 points.   Finally it was your girls jv basketball team falling in the preliminary game at Holyoke despite a double double from Tyleshia Cooper who had 12 points and 14 rebounds.  Tonight the wrestling team travels to Hampshire Regional for a league match and on Thursday the boys jv and varsity are here against South Hadley.

Both your boys and girls varsity basketball teams took home winos over the holiday vacation as the boys downed Hoosac Valley late last week as Nathan Colon had 26 points and Justin Rennis added 18 points and 11 rebounds to take the come from behind 72 – 63 win.  The girls held on for an exciting 47 – 45 win over Ludlow earlier in the week as Remani Lizana and Franchesca Diaz lead the way offensively.  Christian Rivas took home second place overall in the Knight Hawk Wrestling tournament held in Holyoke last week.  Today we have the girls freshmen here at school in the main gym at 4:00 PM, while the girls jv and varsity travel to Holyoke for games beginning at 5:30 PM.  Tomorrow the wrestling team travels to Hampshire Regional for a league match and on Thursday the boys jv and varsity are here against South Hadley.

Congratulations to your varsity wrestling team as they opened their league season with a 39 – 30 win over Granby on the road.  Jack Spaulding, Jalen Rogers, Jason Alves and Jacob Dagenais each recorded pins in the win.  Christian Rivas had an impressive win by decision to help the team record their victory. Arianna Carmona and Kinsley Orr-Westbrook had 10 points apiece but the girls freshmen basketball team fell to Tantasqua yesterday here at home.  Your boys freshmen team opened the doubleheader as they also fell to Tantasqua by a score of 55 – 43.  The guys had a torrid fourth quarter comeback bid fall short despite 11 points by Gabriel Perez and 8 points and 6 boards from Jared Denson.  Kevin West was solid throughout.   Today the boys basketball teams get right back at it as the jv and varsity travel to Easthampton High and the boys freshmen team gets over to Central for a 4:00 PM tip. Tomorrow it’s the Central jv and varsity girls teams here beginning at 5:30 PM and the freshmen girls’ basketball team travelling to Central for a 4:00 PM start.  The Bowling Teams begin their match at 3:30pm at AMF Chicopee.  Good luck to all.  Let’s get ready to fill the stands with Bulldog fans.

Justin Rennis had 22 points and 16 rebounds, but the boys’ varsity basketball team dropped their opening game to Groton- Dunstable by a score of 73 – 54.  Aaron Williams had 10 points in his varsity debut.  Your girls varsity basketball team defeated Pope Francis High on Friday with a  48 – 17 win.  Ta’keeyla Jackson had 8 points to lead the balanced offensive charge, and Alexia Williams, Paris Lizana, Frankie Dias, Remain Lizana and Safaire Bryant had 6 points apiece.  The jv girls also recorded a win as Amani Smith led all scorers with 12 points.  Tylesia Cooper and Tatianna Skarzynski had 4 points apiece.  Your wrestlers opened their season on the road at Danvers High School.  Today, if the weather permits, we have the girls jv and varsity basketball teams here beginning at 5:30 PM and the girls freshmen basketball team on the road at Chicopee in a 4:00 PM game.  Tomorrow the boys jv and varsity basketball teams travel to Quaboag Regional High School.  Good luck to all.  Let’s get ready to fill the stands with Bulldog fans.

Attention all students – if you plan to try out for a winter season sport you must register now on the family ID website.  Please do not wait until the last moment to register as we may be unable to confirm medical clearance if you wait until the final week to register.  If we cannot obtain medical clearance you will not be able to attend a tryout session.  Tryouts for cheerleading will begin next Monday, while tryouts for wrestling and basketball will be held one week later beginning on November 28th

We will hold an open gym today for boys in grades 7 – 12 interested in basketball from 3 – 5 pm.  Open gym for girls in grades 7 – 12 interested in conditioning will also be held today from 5 – 7 pm.  Conditioning for wrestling will also meet today from 3 – 4:30 pm.  Later this week the boys basketball group in grades 7 – 12 will have conditioning on Thursday from 3 – 5 and the girls in grades 7 – 12 will have conditioning also on Thursday from 5 – 7 PM.  Open gym times for wrestling candidates will also be on Thursday from 3 – 4:30 PM.  These will be the final open gym times prior to the tryout sessions for the winter athletic seasons.

Emma Smith scored the game winner about six minutes into the overtime period and your girls varsity soccer team took a 2 – 1 win over Renaissance School on Friday to advance in the MIAA regional soccer tournament.  Smith scored off an assist from Avalon Mateo who also scored the game’s first goal.  Kayla Brown was solid in the nets and Franchesca Diaz anchored a successful defensive effort.  The girls get back at it today with a 2:00 PM contest at Granby High.  Congratulations to your girls cross country team for their repeat win in the All-City meet on Friday.  An’janae Washington earned the first place overall medal as she bettered her own course record by three seconds.  She was followed in the top ten overall by Tanialyz Almenas and Eliza Mullin.  At the PVIAC championship race on Saturday, An’janae once again led the girls as she finished 10th overall (out of 205 runners) and she shaved over 30 seconds off her previous best time at Stanley Park.  For the boys it was Stephan Heathman who finished 11th overall in the All-City race as he broke the 20 minute mark with a time of 19:45.  Over the weekend it was Stephan, Nick Audette and Amadi Pendleton who each turned in sub-20 minute times in the PVIAC championships.  Today the girls volleyball teams travel to Lee High School for the next round of play in their MIAA tournament and on Sunday both the boys and girls cross country teams are set to enter the MIAA championship race at Stanley Park in Westfield.  Good luck to all our teams.  Let’s get ready to fill the stands with Bulldog fans.

Your girls varsity soccer team was nearly flawless as they lost a 2 – 1 heartbreaker to Monson High School yesterday.  Avalon Mateo scored the lone Bulldog goal and Kayla Brown and Cheyenne Daniels were outstanding in the nets.  Monson scored the game winner with just 7 minutes left in the game.  Your jv girls dropped a 1 – 0 game to Monson as well.  Bailey Barlow, Amanda Odom and Amani Smith paced the girls on the afternoon. Your golf team lost a one-sided match to Mahar.  Austin Benoit posted the low score on the afternoon for the team.  Today the girls volleyball teams travel to Chicopee as they try and earn their invitation to the MIAA post season tournament.   The jv match begins at 4:00 PM.  Tomorrow both the boys and girls soccer teams are in action as the boys travel to Athol and the girls get out to Taconic High School.  Good luck to all.  Let’s get ready to fill the stands with Bulldog fans.

Congratulations to your boys varsity basketball team on their quarter final win over Mohawk Trail Regional High School on Friday.  A near sellout crowd watched Nathan Colon go off for 28 points, including 7 3-pointers to lead the way.  Jaren Suttles was solid defensively and Justin Rennis added 26 points with an outstanding offensive show himself.  The guys advance to the Western Mass semi-final round on Wednesday of this week at the UMass Cage.  Game time is 4:30 PM and tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students.

Kolby Smith was one of just three Western Mass wrestlers to place in the New England tournament held in Providence, RI this past weekend as the senior finished 6th overall in the 170 pound category.  Congratulations, Kolby!

Finally your bowling club made a strong showing in the state tournament as they finished 11th overall in their division.  Colin Fairman finished 10th in the state, while Shayne Audet was able to finish 24th overall as well.

Online registration for all spring sports is in full swing on the family ID website.  There will be no in-person registration sessions. The season begins for all sports in less than two weeks on Monday, March 21st.  You must have a valid physical exam on file with the nurse and register online in order to be eligible.  Otherwise, all students in grades 7 – 12 are eligible to participate.  Register early.  We will be offering teams for baseball, softball, boys’ volleyball, boys and girls tennis, and boys and girls track and field.  See Mr. Campagna or Nurse Dupuis if you have any questions about your physical exam or about your registration.  Some of the sports have big registration numbers already – register early so you can get cleared to tryout.  Don’t wait until the last minute.

Preseason workouts for spring sports will be held all week.  Please see a spring coach or ask a teammate for the exact days and times for each session.  There will no after school athletic programs on Wednesday.

We would like to have a student fan bus for the game on Wednesday.  We are looking for two adult chaperones.  If anyone is interested please message or speak to Mr. Campagna.  We will have more details later today if we can put the trip together.

Christian Garcia-Nieves, Kolby Smith and Xavier Hines-Coombs each took home the top honors in the Western Mass Division Three wrestling tournament held this weekend at Southwick High School.  Congratulations to our Western Mass Champions!

Congratulations also goes out to the girls’ varsity cheerleading team as they took home first place honors in the open invitational held on Sunday at South Hadley High School.  Way to go, girls!

Griffin Spear bowled his high game of the season with a 198 and the JV Boys team earned their way to the Team State Tournament.  Congratulations!

Believe it or not – Online registration for all spring sports will begin on Monday, February 8th on the family ID website.  There will be no in-person registration sessions. The season begins for all sports on Monday, March 21st.  You must have a valid physical exam on file with the nurse and register online in order to be eligible.  Otherwise, all students in grades 7 – 12 are eligible to participate.  Register early.  We will be offering teams for baseball, softball, boys volleyball, boys and girls tennis, and boys and girls track and field.  See Mr. Campagna if you have any questions.

There will be a meeting today in the guidance office during Student Life period for any girl in grade 7 – 12 interested in playing softball this Spring.  Preseason workouts for softball will begin this Saturday in the back gym from 12:30 – 2:30 PM.  Registration is not needed.  Just show up.
