Daily Update

Emma Smith scored the game winner about six minutes into the overtime period and your girls varsity soccer team took a 2 – 1 win over Renaissance School on Friday to advance in the MIAA regional soccer tournament.  Smith scored off an assist from Avalon Mateo who also scored the game’s first goal.  Kayla Brown was solid in the nets and Franchesca Diaz anchored a successful defensive effort.  The girls get back at it today with a 2:00 PM contest at Granby High.  Congratulations to your girls cross country team for their repeat win in the All-City meet on Friday.  An’janae Washington earned the first place overall medal as she bettered her own course record by three seconds.  She was followed in the top ten overall by Tanialyz Almenas and Eliza Mullin.  At the PVIAC championship race on Saturday, An’janae once again led the girls as she finished 10th overall (out of 205 runners) and she shaved over 30 seconds off her previous best time at Stanley Park.  For the boys it was Stephan Heathman who finished 11th overall in the All-City race as he broke the 20 minute mark with a time of 19:45.  Over the weekend it was Stephan, Nick Audette and Amadi Pendleton who each turned in sub-20 minute times in the PVIAC championships.  Today the girls volleyball teams travel to Lee High School for the next round of play in their MIAA tournament and on Sunday both the boys and girls cross country teams are set to enter the MIAA championship race at Stanley Park in Westfield.  Good luck to all our teams.  Let’s get ready to fill the stands with Bulldog fans.

Attention all students.  The winter athletic season is just around the corner and the family ID website is open for registration for cheerleading, boys or girls’ basketball and wrestling. Remember you must register online and have a current physical exam on file with the nurse in order to be eligible to attend a tryout session.  Also any student with an outstanding disciplinary consequence will be unable to attend a tryout or conditioning session for any winter sport.  Please do not wait until the last moment to register as we may be unable to confirm medical clearance if you wait until the final week to register.  Tryouts for cheerleading will begin on Monday, November 21st, while tryouts for wrestling and basketball will be held one week later beginning on November 28th.

We will hold an open gym for boys in grades 9 – 12 interested in basketball on Wednesday and Thursday from 3 – 5 pm.  Open gym for girls in grades 7 – 12 interested in conditioning for basketball will be held on Wednesday and Thursday from 5 – 7 pm.  Anyone interested in conditioning for wrestling we will meet on Wednesday from 3 – 4:30 pm.
